Went for a Sunday supper - Wow, what an amazing, dreamy atmosphere with some tasty food to enjoy alongside the views. This place boasts some unique wild game options like boar, quail, elk, antelope and more, and left us salivating for more. While not pictured, the best item they have is their duck gumbo: incredibly smoky, deep flavors and you can take a whole quart to go for $16! We also really loved our meat, cheese, and veggie board, along with a ribeye steak entree and a mix of wild game (boar, elk, quail, etc). Honestly everything here and the drinks are fabulous! We will definitely come back to try out their brunch, regular lunch, and dinner again!
Really cool place. Definitely has the outdoorsy vibes with the cabin feeling and all the wild game head. Menu definitely has a great selection of wild game meats. I would definitely recommend this place to someone and I see myself coming back!
I had the pleasure of eating through a work event. We had a limited menu. Food review below.
- Smoked duck and andouille sausage gumbo
10/10, really good, it came with a biscuit as well. The gumbo was well balanced between meat and rice and thickness of the broth.
- wild game mixed grill
This sampler consisted of deer, elk, quail, and boar. All the meats were cooked perfectly. The highlight of the plate was the piece of elk steak. 10/10, I would come back just for the elk meat.
- Creeping crust apple cobbler
Ice cream and some apple cobbler. Tasty but nothing over the top. 8/10
Went during restaurant week: I got the smoked duck gumbo and by far this is one of the best gumbos I ever had at any restaurant; I’ve had a slew of terrible gumbos . The flavor depth on this one , has left me craving for another bowl.
My main course was the duck chilaquiles and the duck with the crispy tortillas and egg with the cream was very good !
Wife got the rainbow trout: fish was cooked perfectly and the spinach was very flavorful, with everything in a single bite was the best. Combining the flavors .
The bread pudding is also on the the best I’ve had in a restaurant setting! The croissants make it so much better than your typical bread pudding.
The maple old fashioned sounds like it will be too sweet but it is just right.
The building has lots of history and amazing food and staff !
This restaurant is in a 100 year old former hunting lodge so the atmosphere is really neat. The grounds are lovely also. We came here for brunch and had excellent service. Things we loved: cheddar jalapeño biscuits, $2 mimosas. We liked our entrees: bison short rib Benedict & fried chicken salad.
A gem in the heart of Texas! Delicious food and drinks. The only thing is that on Sundays they don't serve lunch. It's mainly brunch till late afternoon. I did not their mimosa.we ordered duck gumbo, lobster, avocado salad, quail, and a bun and some drinks. Delicious!
Excellent food, service, ambience and staff. The mixed grill was great as was the Burger a mix of Elk, Bison and Ribeye 🤤. We also enjoyed the Quail and the Sea Bass business lunch option served with gumbo. Dessert was sinfully delicious, there best Bread Pudding ever!! This is a must experience stop. 💓❣️
If you ever want to be hooked to bread pudding, try theirs. It's second to none! Great place for date night or celebration. Make sure to reserve in advance and ask to be seated with a view.
Rainbow Lodge is known for its unique wild game options, so if you're looking for vegan/vegetarian, this isn't your place.
We tried the wild game appetizer which offered rabbit, venison, and bison. Fabulous presentation, but I thought my husband would faint when he saw the portions.
My drink (Hemingway daiquiri) was stout! Large wine and cocktail menu.
My crab & shrimp saffron was delicious. We felt that the Brussels sprouts weren't very tender, but were ok. Husband said his trout could use more seasoning. He was a big fan of the grits.
We were celebrating a birthday (which they knew and confirmed when seating us) and I was disappointed that there was nothing special. Our server did recommend the croissant bread pudding - which was very good!
Heads up, valet is virtually required unless you want to park behind another building across Ella.
Beautiful, charming and delightful place!!
The food is amazing, we went with friends and we loved it. The service is great as well. We will definitely come back. Sunday brunch is great!!
Very good! The dishes was so yummy! Love the special Bison and Mix with Elk, dessert was perfect not too sweet! Atmosphere and service were both amazing! Five stars and will definitely come back again!
