Quick Lunch

Come through Hopewell regularly and if availability permits, drop in for a decent meal. Today however I was a bit disappointed in the quality of service I received, but being an `outsider', wasn't anything I haven't faced in my travels. Do however, be aware that `local` regulars seem to take priority. This being said, the food itself was fine overall. Tried the hamburger steak with fries & potato salad which was satisfactory. The potato salad was a bit bland to my liking but acceptable, the fries were satisfactory as well, but in looking around at the quantity others received, I did feel like I was 'shorted`, after all, fries aren't that costly and are reasonably cheap to serve. The biggest beef I had was such a simple item as a dinner roll, which was served extremely hard, cold and dried out, this action dropped my `Benefit of the Doubt` factor, to its lowest level. Today it didn't tend that `Excitement of a Diner` feeling one can get with a ` Mom & Pop` diner while traveling around the country. Almost forgot about the waitress, upon entering and finding a table, three other locals entered the establishment and received service, before I was ever acknowledged, `That` dear travelers, it one of the key factors I recognize as a restaurants attributes. Technically as a ` Gratuity` a penny would've been appropriate, but today I was a softy & tipped her more then her act of service was worth. Unfortunately she was a pitiful waitress, but to which I hope she will eventually come to understand that "gratuity" isn't freely `given`, it`s " EARNED"!!!

If you are into the old school dinner feel. Where everyone knows who you are. Is friendly, and has great food. This place is for you. I eat here a lot. You can’t beat the price anywhere. The staff is all friendly. The food is great. The best hotdogs you can find it’s their signature thing here. They have special names for everything dealing with it. Lot of history on the walls. Nice little place that you can easily miss. If you get the chance and your hungry stop by. You can always get it to go.

My favorite place for hot dogs! Looks like a dive from outside, inside isn't a whole lot better looking, but the food is quite good. It closes early in the day, so go before 2pm. French fries are also usually very good. You only get one refill on your drink, but then the drinks are cheaper than they are anywhere else too, so it's ok.

There's no picture of the food because I ate it before think about writing a review. Pancakes are amazing here. I would come just for the pancakes and bacon. They serve great hot and fresh coffee (8 O'clock brand). Everything is made fresh to order so be prepared to wait a few minutes for your order. The wait is worth it.
