On one of my trips to 99, I decided to try this place out. I hadn’t had Hawaiian food in a while, and this place looked good since there was a line. Lol.
I decided on the pastele plate that came with rice, salad, mac salad, and poke. I also ordered a side of kalua pork. The pastele was good considering… I suppose it depends how you like yours, but for me, this one was a little on the bland side. I was looking for a deeper savory flavor. The mac salad was pretty good and the poke was “Foodland fresh” (previously frozen, but still red/pink in color). The poke had onions in it, which I wasn’t prepared for because I don’t like raw onion, but it was too easy to avoid it. The kalua pork was pretty good. Just the right amount of salt. Not sure if it was homemade or Keokis, but either way I enjoyed it.
If you are in the area and want something different, I would try this place out. Besides Hawaiian food, they have other local style dishes too.
The hours are a bit weird, but I'm glad I could make it to eat the Ahi Crunch Plate!!!
Love the food here.
