Review Henry Loui's Restaurant - Honolulu

We met here for our Red Hat Society monthly dinner. The meals were huge and tasted very good and the prices were great too. I would definitely go back for the taco salad and baby back ribs!

Ribs are good, fall off the bone tender needed a side of sauce for more flavor. The Happy Hour prices for the ribs were lower than the full meal and can be shared at the table. The salads are great here too.

It's a great place to eat if you like to eat ribs! But we had the platter!!! That was awesome! They wait help needs to improve but don't let that stop you from trying this place out!

I found out about this place on Facebook and someone mentioned that it was going out of business at the end of the month, so I had to try it. It's an old school, dark, hole in the wall type restaurant. There are no windows in the place so it's pretty dark. Even the front door almost doesn't look like it's an open restaurant. We went for lunch and honestly weren't sure what to expect. Seafood salad was great. Lots of shrimp and real crab, and not fishy at all. My husband got the prime rib and mahi mixed plate, and I got the half back rib plate. All the food was delicious and the serving size is generous. We ate until we were full and still took home half of each item. I want to go back before they close and maybe get a sandwich or burger.

I am pleasantly surprise! I enjoyed the food and our waiter was very attentive! We will definitely come back! Probably my favorite place to eat, here in HI, so far. :)

Omg!! Finally awesome food for a good price! I have been here a year and a half and have had the hardest time finding good food. This place is great! It is a hole in the wall and not too fancy but the food is a must try.

Oh my goodness, why didn't I know about this great place. Fantastic selection and huge portions. I'm definitely a fan.

Cute little spot with amazing food. Hot prime rib sandwich was on point. Nice chill atmosphere with awesome staff and regulars.

This place is similar to a great "hole-in-the-wall", has really good BBQ... although the side option of pasta is not good at all (mash potatoes was good though). Decoration inside is great, cozy place. Would be 5-star for me if the entrance was different, if it had a few more beer and non-soda options, and if the menu included the options for drinks and included some pictures of the favorite dishes.

It was delicious! I got the broiled burger medium well, seasoned fries, and fried calamari. I was expecting super soggy fries and calamari, but it was so FRESH! Food tasted great, I provided instructions and they actually followed it! (I’ve experienced restaurants neglecting my requests when ordering from online) Will definitely order from here again. Thank you so much for your great service.

Awesome food! Escargot, fried zucchini, prime rib, hawaiian plate, loco moco, Hamburger steak w/onions, and french dip... ONO! The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is because the soda and juice wasn't refillable. Service was 👍

Today was my first time here. My wife was craving a good steak and we decide to try it out. The meat was on point very good. We ordered a T bone and a NY steak. The beef vegetable soup was very delicious as well. The staff is very friendly and kind. 100% recommend it. Furthermore, I listened a lot of fun In the back i think they have a karaoke i should ask but you can feel the good energy of this place for sure as soon as you get in.

Was really impressed with the taste of everything as well as the size of dish. Everything was on point. Drinks are non refillable but service makes up for it. Too bad this place is closing down. If you haven't tried it here then I suggest you stop waiting and head on down.

A nostalgic style restaurant/ bar gathering place. The food is excellent, a huge menu offering from the mid 19th century supper club era, all with a contemporary-style presentation, and portions that will definitely provide a take home box for next day's lunch or dinner. The ribs and have always been tops, soft, tender, full of flavor with just a little kick. Served half or full rack, or in combo with seafood or chicken entrees. Wonderful freshly made soups, many choice pupils to select for your late afternoon business or your game day sports gatherings. I visit Henry Loui's at least once each month and have always received excellent entrees and sides. The menu is extensive, with a huge selection of sides. There is nothing fancy here, in case you expect white linen dining, and yet you will fancy everything about this welcoming ambiance with a comfortable, homey, local gathering place. And I left service till the last. It is the caring, dedicated, knowledgeable, and excellent service provided upon immediately entering the restaurant. All service staff I've interacted with have been exceptional. They represent that feeling of being serviced in your home, and waste no time in getting to know you and remember you each time you return. While I've never experienced less than friendly, personable, and helpful service from any of the staff, I and my friend have been fortunate to have a very special server, a sincere, speedy, and knowledgeable person who just fits the ambiance and can speedily handle much of the larger dining room herself, with attention to your needs and amazingly enough time to visit her tables and talk story with new guests as well as returning regulars. Kahulu is exceptional, personable and accommodating, so much so that I enjoy going to dinner not only for the great food, but because of the opportunity to see one of my most favorite service persons. Not a visit has ever gone by without having Kahulu be one of the biggest reasons for coming to Henry Loui's. She immediately inspires a friendship hard to duplicate in our fast moving 21st century. If dining here for the first time, be sure to ask for Kahulu, and not only will you be happy accommodated with great service, but you'll soon be drawn to her sincerity and you'll have a new friend for life. (And if you may not know, Kahulu works here after she works full time by day in the medical field in hospital care). Regardless of these most stressful and challenging times, Kahulu never holds back and maintains an energy difficult to imagine. Great food, relaxing ambiance, and excellent service make for a wonderful relaxing outing, whether purposely for lunch, dinner, game time gathering, or a just because hangout, and Kahulu and other staff and kitchen professionals make this a delightful and yummy visit!

Went one night for karaoke with family & had an awesome time. The woman hosting was a beautiful singer, went around asking everyone to perform and serenaded them while doing so. Our server was super quick, very funny, and extremely nice. Good selection of pupus (traditional sharing platters) and delicious drinks. Even made a drink for my aunt that wasn't on the menu. Will definitely visit again and recommend to anyone 😊

I actually went 2 times in 4 days. The first time I had the prime rib, king cut. I ordered rare, and the chef knew exactly what he/she was doing. It was cooked perfectly! The au jus sauce and the horseradish was very delicious, as were the seasoned french fries and vegetables. The second time, I met a business associate and enjoyed a carafe of tonic and lime. The service I received on both occasions was top notch. Much aloha. Highly recommend.

Relaxed, cozy, almost romantic setting with the dimmed lighting. Great "home cooked" food, no matter what you eat. It is a little hidden behind another building but if you ask the locals that have been there, we all love it. One of those hidden gems...

Perfect place to relax, eat, and enjoy a terrific meal. Kudos to Cynthia our waitress. Her ability to set our minds at ease as to what was a good meal choice was second to none. Once the meal arrived, quickly I might add, was perfect. The baby back ribs are a "must have" as a meal or side choice combo.

All though it is hidden in an Industrial Park, you need to find It (On Paa Street). The staff is great, and extremely friendly. The service is fast. Entrée there before you even finish your salad. Still think this is the best prime rib on the island!!!

Depends who your waitress is!!!! Last time we had the worst service, and waitress was rude. Customer service sucked!

It is a nicely mellow place for us older folks to meet friends and family to eat, drink, sing and be merry.

We go there for lunch a couple of times a year...just got to make sure there's you make reservations during football season...the prime rib French dip sandwich is the bomb! So are their salads and sides!

I haven't been here for a long time... Now I remember why! I had their renowned ribs with BBQ teriyaki chicken. Talk about a huge let down. The chicken was dry, the veggies were pre-frozen (cooked unevenly) and the best part... Their renowned ribs were dry and unseasoned (the teriyaki glazed that was drizzled on after it was cooked was anything but renowned).

Dark Place. Went to Henry Loui's with so friends who advised me that the place was a bit dark and more like a bar that a restaraunt. They were right on the money.
I tried the Hawaiian plate, and it was pretty good. It was also a very big serving as well. The kalua pork was moist and not dry and with just the right amout of salt. It was by far the best thing on the Hawaiian plate which even had a cube of haupia.

Not the worst. Basically pub fare and some ribs thrown in for good measure. The food is okay, prices and moderate and the service needs improvement. If you're in need of some grub before you get on your plane, give it a try or better yet, get something at the airport.

Decent after-work hangout with friends.... Located in the mixed-use industrial area of Mapunapuna, Henry Loui's is a good after work hangout to have drinks and have a pretty good meal.

The specialty here is its BBQ ribs. For me, I prefer Tony Roma's ribs but Henry Loui's holds it own. Other things done well here, is its Hawaiian Plate, Teri Short Ribs and Chicken.

The decor is dark and gloomy, like you would expect from a bar, so I wouldn't recommend this place for young children, families or taking out-of town guests. Service is OK, not to friendly, but they bring your food to you quick.

I would recommend this place for an after-work dinner or working lunch. I may not go out of the way, but nonetheless, if I were in the area I would return.
