Update as of Sep-22:
Google map says dine-in is open, but they’re actually not open for dine-in yet. Still take out only.
Every dish we ordered was tasty, but the portion could be a little bigger. Perhaps it’s served as traditional Japanese portion which is somewhat less than the US standard.

This place might have the best cost to quality ratio for Japanese food on the island. Most options are under $15 and everything I’ve had is fresh and tasty. Personal favorites are the special bento (sells out early!), the chirashi / seafood don, and the fried chicken. Service is friendly. Order ahead as it’s a small place and big orders may take a while.

Do-ne is a fantastic authentic Japanese bento spot. I have a high standard for Japanese cuisine and I've had two meals here with my wife and we were both very satisfied. There's a parking lot at the back of the store.

Katsu plate was really good, the special combo plate is a bunch of relatively basic items, so I personally wouldn't recommend, but it can be fun to try a bunch of things. Pumpkin tempura unfortunately loose its crunch but still very tasty, fried mackerel breading and flavor was great, potato salad was also very enjoyable and I loved the addition of apples inside. The lady behind the counter was very nice and we appreciated how helpful she was. If I wasn't a tourist, I would order from here fairly often I think.

Only takeout here, no dine in. Owner was really nice and helpful. Loved the fish and eel bentos! Wasn’t even that hungry and we ended up finishing both.
Adorable little place. Would highly recommend!

An amazing little gem of a hole-in-the-wall type place. Authentic Japanese teshoku; the staff here were so friendly and the food was amazing. Made with tender love and care and offered at an excellent value point. Would visit here everyday if I could have =)! Highly recommend if you're in the area. There are only a few tables inside and a couple chairs to wait at outside. Their opening hours are limited, but definitely worth it. Staff are Japanese and so humble and genuine.

Small place, would recommend making reservations. I just came back from Japan and the food here is spot on! Get the fried chicken specialty!

So much attention to detail in their food presentation. The food is good too. They say you first eat with your eyes, but in my case the camera gets first bite

Love this place but there is almost always a wait to get in. It’s worth it though for this teeny tiny Mom and Pop-type eatery that can seat only about 18 pax. Plus it’s byob so be sure to bring your favorite beer or sake. There is a surprisingly large parking area in the back so parking is usually not an issue.

Mom and pop Japanese restaurant with about 16 seats inside. We had to wait quite awhile, but the home style food is really good value and JUST DELICIOUS. fresh sashimi, great ginger miso pork+eggplant, delicate sides... Such a nice cozy spot.

Do-ne is a small and cozy restaurant located just 10 minutes on foot from the convention center. If you're looking for quality teishoku away from the usual tourist hotspots, this is the place. The unagi-don was delicious and the sides complimented the main dish very well. The food and excellent service combined provided the authentic experience I was looking for. I will definitely have to come back on my next trip to Oahu.
Please note: the seating is limited (I counted 18 seats total) so expect to wait if you're hitting peak lunch/dinner hours. A clipboard with the waitlist is posted on the front door but is checked often. Do your best to get there early!

We ordered takeout and the presentation was great! Everything is neat and orderly in the bag.
The food is very high quality. I got the shrimp and oyster which was a special for the week. It retained its crunch and the flavor was perfect. My partner got the tuna-don and the fish was very fresh!
Amazing experience!

So fantastic. Tiny little restaurant.. about 6 tables, but the food is wonderful and very authentic Japanese. It's BYOB so come prepared.

Easy to miss storefront, but food can't be missed! I was so surprised to see motsunabe (pig offal hot pot) takeout on their website. You get the ingredients all prepared and you get to cook it at home, how cool! I boiled the offal for 15 minutes by itself in the broth first to make it tender, then added all the other ingredients (except the noodles). It was incredibly flavorful and delicious and a great value at $16.
Service was friendly too and there's free easy parking in back (if you don't miss it the first time like I did).

A real hole-in-the-wall restaurant. The staff is all very friendly and the food is on point. The prices are very reasonable, and they offer set meals as well. But the best part is that it is BYOB. Parking is a bit tight since they only have a few stall. They do take reservations, which might be a good idea if you are planning to take a bigger group. Enjoy!

A wonderful, cozy, 6 table restaurant which serves up authentic simple excellent Japanese cuisine at a very reasonable price point for the quality, presentation. They offer rotating, interesting specials weekly. BYOB, and they do take reservations! Going early is necessary without reservations. Hidden parking is in the back through the passage to the left of the restaurant.
