LOVE IT! Amazing food and amazing people. We tried 4 dishes and all were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The kids were super happy with their food too. We will be coming back 💓
There are not enough words for this place!!
We stayed at the Luana Waikiki Hotel that the Fish Hook Cafe is connected to. Both businesses were wonderful! The location of the restaurant was not only very convenient for us, but also so much more than we expected. We did try other places since it was our first trip here, but this was definitely our go to for breakfast. Most mornings I had the Breakfast Croissant and my husband had the Fried Rice Plate both were excellent! We stopped in for lunch one day as well and I had a delicious poke bowl and my husband had the Black Bean Chicken that was also very delicious and marinated perfectly.
Besides the food being amazing, the staff was amazing too! Our first morning here we met Ki, he was fantastic and greeted every single person with a smile. We then met John, he was the exact same! They really make an effort to get to know you and why you’re here and remember you. They both gave my husband and I wonderful recommendations for things to do and we tried to do some of their favorite things!
We will not forget the genuine connections made with them and their friendship while on our trip! Thank you both for a great start to every day we had here and thank you to the rest of the staff for creating the most delicious food we had the chance to try!! We hope to be back one day and see you all again!

Love this place! The guys that run this kitchen are amazing, the food is great and the service is fun and spectacular! You feel like you are in their home. This is in the bottom of the Luana Waikiki and has a small restaurant area but never feels crowded, just like home. We ate here several times and will be back!

Finally, a place in Waikiki that I can enjoy Tonkatsu without the need of a reservation. Came here this morning and decided to come back for lunch. I had the fried rice plate from the breakfast menu and I heard the chef saying “Tonkatsu” to confirm the order. So I guess you can order lunch menu items for breakfast as well. I ate the whole plate of fried rice without taking a picture. I loved the fried eggs on top of the fried rice.
Their Tonkatsu is not the mall food court Tonkatsu, it’s well plated with salad and rice seasoned with sesame. You can tell the chef’s efforts just by the salad dressing.
It’s a cozy eatery that you can’t really see from the street but the service is excellent as well as the quality of the food preparation. I just came back from Japan and their food reminds me of all those extraordinary dining experiences I had there.
It’s great to hear that they will expand their menu and eventually resume dinner service.
John was so friendly and kind! He was very helpful with giving us tips on what to order! My husband enjoyed the Poke bowl and I had delicious pork quesadillas! There was also a selection of baked goods. Would definitely recommend.
Gave Fish Hook Cafe and if was tasty lunch under $20 bucks. Staff were helpful and courteous. Space is a bit tight so not ideal for groups of 6 and more. I had the pork belly bowl and the pork was just soft and aromatic ($13.99 I think). Definitely will visit again.
Came here with the $10 off credits that come with staying at the Luana Hotel! Definitely a solid breakfast place, I really enjoyed the breakfast sandwich with portuguese sausage and fried rice!
The wait is long, took about 35 minutes to get an omelet to go. I guess this is expected granted that the kitchen consists of like 2 people and an electric griddle. My advice would be to peek in and if it seems crowded have a backup plan, unless you don't mind waiting.
Very tight area, likely won't be able to get a seat.
With that being said the food was pretty good. I got an omelet and it was definitely better than the one I got at Eggs N Things. Good breakfast around here has seemed to be tougher to come by than I thought. Overall I'd say my experience here was 3.5 stars but I'll round up.
Oh my! The poke bowl was soooooo good!!!!! 😍 Had lunch there four days in a row, and everything was just perfect! The staff there were super friendly and helpful! Highly recommended!
Amazing food. Very small seating area but pretty quick service and the food was excellent. My party of 4 had the mochi waffles, mochi short stack, French toast, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, bacon, blueberry muffin and coffee. Everything was amazing, except the muffin was your generic (from a grocery store package) taste. I would say the waffles are the best, but you can't go wrong with any of it!
