Shor

Rain was always threatening on our last trip to Hawaii. And while not always ideal, we're used to the rain and there were always flashes of brightness that lit up the day... Like this breakfast buffet @shorwaikiki Despite the drizzle in the morning, really enjoyed the food here. The umbrellas kept us dry on their patio and omg that bacon was so good!

We had Jimmy as our waiter and he was excellent. He went out of his way to do things for us. It was my granddaughters birthday and he brought her a piece of cake and sang happy birthday to her with another waiter. People like Jimmy, inspires you to go back to those places to eat since the food was good and service was great!

We came the day before Valentines. Make sure you make reservations. Although we dressed up, it’s pretty casual. We were seated Oceanside. The service was great as well as the food. I had the kampachi $38 and it was devine. It was the perfect balance, even though the portion seems small. I didn’t leave feeling stuffed, nor did I leave feeling hungry. Plus I had a glass of wine while the Mr. had a hamburger $26 which he said was delicious. The truffle fries were tasty as well. Parking was validated, which granted us an extra three hours to look around. There was an open market going on so the validated hours was nice. The restaurant is located in the Hyatt and we self parked. Parking is extremely narrow going up the ramp, so be mindful or just valet. If you self park, again, you are validated.

Our dinner and service at Shor tonight were outstanding. We got the catch of the day, the Mahi and added on lobster tails as a side. They could possibly have been the best lobsters we’ve had. Cooked to perfection, seasoned with warm butter. The waiter suggested the Taro brûlée cheesecake when we asked what his favorite was. It looks a little weird because of the taro being purple but it was unique and so delectable we were almost fighting over it by the end! We’ll return to Shor again!

First visit to Shor restaurant in the Hyatt Regency hotel on Waikiki beach, which overall was an excellent experience. We chose the restaurant specifically for the location and the view for the Waikiki sunset.  The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of the Hyatt, and using Open Table, we requested a balcony table which was honored through out reservation. We expected the great views, but also received excellent service and food.  The front desk was efficient and friendly, and were shown to our balcony table right on time.  Table service followed by a super friendly server, who watched over us the entire meal.  We found all of our appetizers and entrees very good, served timely and hot as appropriate.  As expected for Waikiki the pricing is high, but at least service and food were well done throughout the meal. We would consider returning again, but only for a special occasion. Hints for your visit: Balcony table provides great views, but can be windy or hot at times.  Be aware of the “sticker shock” when all done with the meal.
