Love Brian & love Scratch. When I’m ready for a kimchi Bloody Mary, I head to Scratch. We are always greeted kindly & seated as quickly as possible. I love to sit at the bar & watch the kitchen in action. It’s impressive to see them prep a plate. The Elvis was THE best French toast I have ever had. Shrimp & grits are delicious. Honestly, there isn’t anything I don’t like. Come to Scratch. Say hi to Brian for me!
Freakin WOW! First time and loved it!
What an absolutely deliciously satiating brunch!
Shrimp and grits...with andouille sausage, egg over easy and onions - spectacular! Add a side order of boudin fritters. My wife had pork belly and apple pasta with goat cheese and a fried egg and she loved hers, too.
Cocktails were good as stand-alone - interesting. But I'd recommend a mixologist to come up with new drink recipes to be recommended as drinks that pair better with the dishes.
Small restaurant with scratch made dishes and a surprisingly great list of cocktails to choose from, get the burgers and a maple bacon old fashioned.
We had to wait about 30 minutes for brunch on a Saturday and sat at the counter area which was really nice to see them working in the kitchen. We had both burgers and they were each very good, and I had two old fashioned's which were amazing.
Great choice for a meal and a drink in the area.
This is a great family spot, while we visited on a Saturday we were very surprised it wasn’t super busy. We went at the right time!
We decided to order some appetizers which was enough for 3!
Food:
Scratch Chili fries 5/5 this dish was delicious, the chili was delicious I loved that it was not salty!
Bacon Mac and cheese 4/5 for my preference wish it had more bacon.
Street tacos 4/5 Not bad in taste but a lot of meat for small tacos.
Steak bites 4/5 tasty just needs to be cooked medium if you want it to be juicer we ordered medium well.
Service:
5/5 Isabel who was our server was very attentive and friendly. She recommended some great dishes and drinks! Will definitely come back.
Parking can be a little tricky if you are not
Familiar with the area but we were able to park down the block.
We had a party of four.
Drinks were Kimchee Bloody Mary, traveling plum margarita, and an Ola Brew vanilla porter.
Food selections were crispy mashed potatoes, escargot, Lilikot pork ribs, Grandma's fried pork chop pasta, Scratch House burger, and Creole shrimp n' sausage grits, and a south shore cobb salad with chicken. The food was good, my burger was cooked to perfection, medium. Everyone else seemed very happy with their selections.
Be aware, there is a 4% "kitchen appreciation charge". However, a tip selection is up to you.
Bottom line, food and service by Jasmine were satisfactory.
My son chose Scratch for his birthday lunch. The food was good, but nothing great. I did enjoy the chicken apple pasta and my son had me try the Kim chee Bloody Mary, oh that was winnahz and I don't like tomato juice. We sat right where they put out the food, which I thought was weird since you could see everyone's food before it got to their table and service was ok. Although I had a couple of refills on my coffee, I did want more, but she stopped offering and brought the check without she asking if we wanted anything else. I don't like feeling rushed and asked for more coffee. We left when I felt I was done and ready to leave.
Great family spot. Chicken and waffles and the Octopus street taco are amazing. French toast. And what is a kitchen appreciation charge(4%)?? Wow. Be aware....
Amazing restaurant that serve southern food 🥘. The food is great all the time and taste nice. The service is so perfect and welcoming like your home. The location is easy to find with a lot of parking 🅿️ space. For sure I should try this place …😉
I have difficult food allergies. The servers and kitchen were knowledgeable about what I couldn't eat - I appreciate that they didn't try to give me something that would make me sick just in an attempt to feed me. Plus, they worked with me to substitute what I couldn't eat with something I could without charging me extra. When the kitchen did make a mistake, my server noticed immediately. Also, aside from my allergies, food can still make me sick, but I never had any stomach issues after eating here! We ate here every day following the first time because it is difficult to find a restaurant where I don't get sick. There were lots of tastey options for the rest of the party to enjoy :). Look for parking at "South Shore Market". There is a free garage.
Great place and fun atmosphere. All the waitstaff are very attentive and your water/coffee is always filled. The food is fun and flavorful.
Let me tell you I've never been so torn about leaving a review before! On one hand the food and service was so amazing I want to shout from the rooftops BUT I also want to keep it a secret so it doesn't get flooded with patrons and I can go back! I'm literally typing this review sitting on the side of the bed with my jeans pulled down to my ankles because I'm so full I was afraid my button was going full projectile at any moment! This was by far the best experience we had in our 4 days here so far!! The hostess and manager were so warm and inviting from the start! Then we had a wonderful server but everyone really helps each other so there is never a moment where you feel ignored! Now the food... Escargot was better than some 5 star French restaurants I've been to, bone marrow to die for, garlic shrimp 🔥. And a pork chop that was thick and juicy while being crispy! We will definitely be going back!
My sister and I were already in town & too lazy to make dinner, so we decided to give this place a try. It was delicious. She had barbacoa tacos and I had a bacon burger. It was cooked to my liking and was soo juicy. It was very filling as well. I definitely would go there again! I want to try their brunch dishes next.
