Great local spot for unique variety of loco mocos.
We ordered mini loco (enough for one person) and sweet potato fries with honey drizzle. The gravy is made with sauteed onions and mushrooms which gives the gravy a nice, rich flavor. This is a great combo to order.
Parking is tough to find so will have to find street parking around the local neighborhood.

The ribeye plate is where it's at! So ono and rivals any steak house. The fries are done so well and overall great food. We also got the miso butter fish and fried chicken. Highly recommended!

We stopped at the Pioneer Saloon after hiking Diamond Head. You order at the outside window them seat yourself inside where they will bring your order to you. We had a 25 minute wait for our food. It was lunchtime and there was a rush. The grilled ahi was done well. The honey sweet potato tempura was yummy. It was crispy and a hint of sweetness from the drizzled honey. The ahi poke was good. They did not have avocados so did not make the poke with it today. Overall a good plate experience.
A warning there us no public washroom!

One of my favorite lunch plate places near Waikiki :) the fried yams were much tastier than expected and there were so many menu options, it was hard to choose
I personally like how they give one scoop of rice which is plenty for me to avoid food waste

Incredible spot for a delicious meal while in Waikiki. We went here for dinner on our last night and could not have asked for a better meal. We ordered the teriyaki chicken and barbecue short ribs. They were both incredible!

We are tourists who love to support local businesses when traveling. Wanted to have a simple relaxing dinner without all the glitz and glam. While at the beach, we asked a few locals where we could eat that would provide us a few varieties of the Hawaiian culture. Pioneer Saloon came highly recommended! Small restaurant with very tasty options! Very nice and friendly with great service!!!

Super great stop for plate lunch! We stopped here on the way back from diamond head hike (they have AC which we loved). Butter Cajun fries are a must try for sure!

I love this place! Every dish I've tried has been so delicious. My favorites are the Crab Cream Croquette Curry and the Teri-Fried Chicken with Walnuts. Their short ribs melt in your mouth! Service is quick and always friendly!

Got stuck on a miss flight so was going to head to Rainbow Drive. I asked the Uber driver if he knows anything better. He brought me here. I ordered the Loco Moco and man it was good. The meat wasn’t flat at all. It was like a meatball. Loved it.

Just completed my 5th Trip to Honolulu and I always make sure to go to Pioneer Saloon. Just a short walk from Waikiki beach.
Pioneer Saloon is delicious and highly recommended for a nice lunch. They do get busy but are always friendly and have great food. My favorite is the Mochiko Chicken, but all their food is all very tasty. I have tried many of their Curry, Chicken and Fish dishes and all are excellent. You cannot go wrong with anything on their menu.

Great comfort food! We ordered the recommended loco moco and ribeye steak plate and they did not disappoint us. We enjoyed every bite. Pricing is very reasonable. Highly recommend. 10 stars!

I asked a Lyft driver for recommendations for food in Waikiki and was directed to the Pioneer Saloon. Oh my goodness. It was probably the best meal I've had since I've been in town. Now that I think about it it was probably better than the dinners I've had with booze too but the memory is a little fuzzy. Pioneer Saloon has no dining in options right now. All three of us were amazed (not TikTok amazed where everything is a 11/10) but actual amazed with the quality of the food for the price.
Teriyaki chicken plate
Ribeye steak bowl
Chicken Katsu Egg Bowl
The ribeye were cooked a perfect medium rare and then cut into bite sized pieces and placed over rice, with a salad and potato salad. The guy returning the counter was chill and not rushy at all.
A can of Pepsi was only $1

My favorite is prime rib. Served on Saturday and Sunday.

I always liked to walk in Hawaii, but there were many good restaurants on the way to Diamond Head, so it was good to have a simple meal. It's a great place to experience simple Hawaiian home-style dishes.

Excellent food and atmosphere! Got the garlic ahi steak and it was top notch. Extra bonus was the entire time there i was there they had some deep cuts of an entire Led Zeppelin mix going on.... which we all know is 'god's gift to rock and roll'

Super good food with no frills!!
Everything we ordered was very good.
Order at the window , wait and enjoy!

After stopping in for a late lunch, I now want to try one of everything on the menu! This mochiko chicken plate did not disappoint, and the garlic ahi (not pictured) was out of this world. Prices are very fair and the shop has fun vintage items you can shop.

Very nice little place right on the sidewalk that has some of the best Cajun fries I've ever had. I wish they could do something about the people blocking the bus stop but that's probably not anything they can do besides telling the customers that they can't serve them if they are blocking the bus stop.

Fresh authentic food. I got their short rib and it was fantastic. Well marinated, really meaty and flavorful. Their seaweed rice was a nice touch to go with it!
