La Docta

Fairly new restaurant. This used to be the old location of the "belly dance" middle eastern restaurant, now defunct. Back to La Docta: The most fantastic empanadas and pasta I've tried in a long time. Dishes are fresh, featuring homemade ingredients. Service is courteous, effective and detail oriented. Great for lunch or dinner, casual.

Love this place...the food is amazing...freshly made dishes, delicous empañadas, and more. Today I had Spaghetti Bolognaise. ..mmm good! The hot crispy rolss & homemade blue cheese butter spread are to die for. Prices are very reasonable & service excellent. A must try...I bought half a dozen frozen curry empanadas to cook at home..

We decided to try this place because it has been downtown for a few months and we do like empanadas. This place is our new goto for empanadas! They have about a dozen or more different types (seafood, meats, veggie, etc) inspired by different countries of the world! We also tried the salmon/ shrimp pasta and it was great (but rich). The only problem I foresee is if this place gets busy and having to wait a while for empanadas. I have since ordered pickup for lunch a few times and the quality has been just as good as in the restaurant! Our favorites are Mushroom/Gruyere, La Docta (sweet beef), Ham & Cheese, Spinach & Cheese! Oh and these are BAKED not fried :) At 2.50 a pop, you can't go wrong... I usually order 3 if I'm hungry but 2 otherwise. Well worth the trip and the wait staff is very friendly and will help you when ordering for the first time.

First time here, we are definitely coming back. We had empanadas, they were outstanding, they make their own dough, what makes a huge diference. The best argentinian empanadas I've had in the U.S, they are second place after my mom's empanadas. Pork steak with mustard was really good, so was the milanesa. Price is good
