Review Red Fish - Hilton Head

Had a fantastic meal at Red Fish 10.1.2023. The blue crab dip and crab bisque were phenomenal. For entrees, we had scallops and the shrimp / crab burger. Everything was prepared very well with the exception of the french fries (soggy). Marissa was our server and she was excellent. I would eat here again if visiting Hilton Head in the future.

This was a great little gamble on our part. We are constantly looking to steer away from "tourist" places, and Red Fish nailed it. They were very accommodating from our seating choice down to letting my MIL take home some of the bread. Food was incredible....had the very essence of "farm to fork" feel. Job very well done.

Celebrated my Dad’s 88th Birthday at Red Fish! Atmosphere, music, food were awesome. Whitney, our server, was the best of the best. Took great care of the table and my Dad, provided 5* service. My Mom paid the bill, table of 6, automatic gratuity was added and my Mom did not know that. Whitney ran out into the parking lot to tell my Mom she overpaid and would get a refund. Talk about integrity!!! Awesome job Whitney!!! Thank you very much!!

Service was very attentive, food was just about amazing. The only thing we didn't love was the big room we were brought to didn't have the charm of the original restaurant - clearly an addition and just a big Rectangular and open room. A bit more decor in there would go a long way. But we will definitely go back and request a table in the original side.

This was our first time on Hilton Head Island. We stumbled on this place while riding around and looking for a nice place to go eat. We definitely were not disappointed. It was a Sunday night, and we did not have reservations. I walked up to the Hostess and said that we had a party of 4 and asked if it was possible to get a table. The Hostess was very pleasant and stated that she would fit us in, but it would probably be a 15 to 20-minute wait. I asked if we could wait at the bar, and she politely pointed me to the area behind her workstation. We walked over to the bar and a female bartender with a nice smile took our drink order and served us very quickly. The bar area had seating for dining adjacent to it. There was also a female guitar player performing music in the area. The music was loud enough to be heard but soft enough to carry on a conversation with guests. The area also had a piano, which was not being used but is a sign that music is played in this area on a regular basis. After a brief self-guided tour of the restaurant. Red Fish is made up of several rooms, each room with its own personality. There is also an extensive outside seating area. One side has an outdoor fireplace. You will be amazed at the huge selection of wines on display. This restaurant could compete with many wine stores that I have visited. I took several pictures of the inside and outside of this restaurant. You need pictures to get the real feel of this beautiful restaurant. The Hostess came over to us within 15 minutes and guided us to a table. The table was in the bar area but as I had stated earlier the music did not deter us from carrying on conversations or enjoying our meal. Our waitress came over to our table and greeted us. She filled our water glasses and refilled our drink orders. She was very pleasant and answered questions regarding the menu. We started with a tomato, mozzarella, and peach appetizer (which was a special), a southwestern chopped salad, and a house salad. Our main courses were Blackened Grouper, a Salmon dish, Black Angus Ribeye, and a Bone-in KC Strip Steak. All the dishes were plated and prepared to perfection. I ordered the KC Strip Steak medium rare and as you can see from the picture, it was perfect. The meals were absolutely perfect, and the only thing left on our table were empty plates. We did not have room for dessert but the ones that passed our table looked as good as the main courses. This is a fine restaurant and you get what you pay for but you will not be disappointed. If you are looking for a special meal on Hilton Head Island, then look no further.

Came here for dinner and enjoyed the food! The menu isn’t too extensive and has some interesting dishes. Overall a great dinner restaurant, but know you are paying for the quality.

He a nice dinner here with friends. Our group of 10 received excellent service. The live jazz music was excellent contributing to a nice atmosphere. All in our group enjoyed, their meals - shrimp and grits, scallops, triggerfish, etc. Certainly would go again.

This place was a last-minute reservation. We are new to the Hilton Head area so we are exploring new restaurants and Hilton Head has plenty of top notch restaurants. This is a beautiful elegant, white tablecloth with candles type of restaurant. They have live piano music and you are literally and completely surrounded by racks upon racks of fabulous wines! The atmosphere in this restaurant is low lighting and warm with lots of wood and artwork. It almost has a slight Polynesian feel to it. The menu is simple but great! Everything was fabulous. Our waitress Betsy was extremely thorough and upbeat. I recommend this place if you feel like having an elegant dinner inside or even outside. You can have An Elegant white tablecloth inside or outside under twinkle lights Under the oak trees. I recommend this restaurant highly.

I don’t often give 5 stars, but Redfish is more like a 6. Their signature dish’s are scallops and sea bass which we had. Our server Nicole, was excellent. She knew details about everything on the menu. She even mixed the Cosmos, this restaurant has a huge assortment of wine, however I like quality IPAs or other local beers. They had that too. Please save the frosted glass for Bud, or Miller. Good beer like good wine should never be served in a frosted glass.

Beautiful, setting and wonderful wine list. Most food was over priced and lackluster waitress was adequate, but clearly didn’t put much energy into the job. Spoke with someone on the phone during the day about changing reservations, and she was very kind and helpful.

Food was good. Server was nice and pretty attentive. They first tried to sit us next to the kitchen and a service station for my birthday dinner. I definitely wasn't having that. They knew it was my birthday so l wasn't sure why they would try to sit me in the worst seat in the house. It was very dark and noisy. But they moved us to an ok area. I really enjoyed my food though ❣️ I also really liked the art Gallery and the lady running it. Very cool.

Nice place! I had the local tile fish with mash & asparagus. They even had a kids menu for the kiddo’s we had with us. Our server was friendly and never left us waiting. The ambiance of the restaurant was dress casual and had a live jazz band inside. Overall, our party was very happy with the dinner here!

Good food... but swordfish was dry and ribs oversauced

Well I know why this place has great reviews. You wouldn’t know it as you’ll probably drive by a dozen times before you see it based on the location but the food is on point. I’ve never seen a shrimp and lobster burger and it was loaded with meat. The sea bass is also a bevy of Asian flavors. The deserts on the menu are mostly made in house. The special tonight was not so we got the torte which is. Staff was great and efficient and our server Nicole was awesome. Glad we tried this place this trip as one of the new places to visit.

We went to Red Fish for our anniversary with our 2 young kids. We went on a Wednesday evening when they had live jazz. We were seated in the wine room right next to the music. It was perfect. The food was great, the music was fantastic! It was a super classy night out.

First visit back after many years, found the food less spectacular than our first visits. It was a solid 5 back then. Vegetables were too crisp for our taste and the shrimp were tough. Service was as wonderful as always. Atmosphere for our party of 10 in the wine-lined walls was ok but loud because it was next to the band and front door. We'll still go back.

We visited this restaurant while vacationing in Hilton Head. It has a great decor with art and wine bottles strategically placed throughout the restaurant. We were seated quickly with no reservation at 6pm. There is an option for patio dining. The staff was friendly. The menu had a variety of options and a kids menu is available. The food tasted great and we received our orders within a reasonable amount of time. My husband ordered the filet mignon, our daughter had pasta, and I had the lobster & shrimp burger with truffle fries. And, the key lime pie was scrumptious! I would recommend this restaurant.
