Review L & L Drive Inn - Hilo

Located downtown Hilo, has its own parking, but you can also easily find street parking around there. It was fairly busy while we were there and a lot of locals come to grab lunch. The lady working at the register was super nice and pleasant to talk to. We ordered a chick katsu bowl and a seafood platter combo, the food was ready quickly and tasted good as expected. You can sit and eat at the tables there or take the food to go. There are no bathrooms for customers though. There menu is so busy with so many options so if you’re new it might take you a moment to figure out what to get. There is premade options that you can select from or order something else from the menu. This location has more options and better prices compared to the one at the mall near Walmart.

Hawaiian plate Kalua pork and cabbage was delicious, rice sides and Mac salad as well. I also ordered 2 Spam musubi, which were well made and tasty. Lots of items to choose from, cozy seating area. Off the beaten path for tourists, but worth the walk from the main strip.

On July 1, 2023, three of us embarked on a mission to eat musubi at all 12 L&L locations on the Big Island. This was our 7th stop on our journey and it was a perfectly fine experience. Service was nice... when she finally acknowledged my presence, the food was hot and tasted exactly how it should, and the restaurant was no cleaner than one should expect from an L&L. I have been to this location before our 11+ hour endeavor this day, and I enjoyed my experience here. It is safe to say that I would go back here again, and I far greater prefer this Hilo location over the mall food court location by Walmart. This L&L scored right in the middle of the pack, not great, not bad, just an average L&L experience.

They have the largest menu I've seen at a l&l they had ox tail soup lol my wife loved it

Alittle run down and basically a whole in a corner BUT the service was great and quick, I ordered a platter for a birthday party and it was ready within 10 minutes🙌🏽 Very limited parking and the rush for lunch was just heading in, with just one counter-girl, she killed it💯

Haven't been here for over 9 years everything is different it's kinda run down but the service and the food was good I ordered a steak plate special it was about 10 bucks which is a deal nowadays for a lunch! Not too much food but just enough. I will be back for lunch again also had a great conversation with an older local lady that was nice. God is good! If you into katsu or beef broccoli and cake noodle this is the spot one of my favorite spots now to grind choke food for 11 bucks!! Had to add this info for you guys who love to grind!! Food is super good, but they're pretty slow especially compared to other L&Ls

Got a chicken bowl as I didn't want too much. For under $10, this is a great value given the location. Fresh and hot, tasty chicken. Steamed veggies not over done. And a generous portion of rice (in this case, brown for me). Definitely worth a return visit.

My all time favorite to eat here is the yummy BBQ ribs with macaroni salad and rice.

There is no dining in this place. You can only order and pick up. We ordered mini plates. They were not really mini. The garlic chicken actually tasted like garlic!

Forget all the overpriced fast casual places to eat , This place is ALWAYS soooo good , Get it to go and walk down to the beach :) Enjoy And if can , pick up 5 pieces of trash to do your part ! Mahalo
