Great place with flavor you won't believe!! The backyard lemon explodes in your mouth, and the coffee flavor was ridiculous good. After my cone I couldn't help but grab a few pints. The staff is friendly and helpful, and extra bonus the place is beyond kid friendly with plenty of seating and toys for small children.
We were in Hilo for our honeymoon and got a very warm welcome at this local shop. Great locally sourced vegan ice cream that tasted like the real stuff, which is hard to do, great hospitality and all at a great price! Thanks for the delicious dessert!
Sweet baby balls of fire. Most delicious ice-cream ever! A definitely amazing place to stop for a frozen treat. The staff are super welcoming and friendly. I love how they let you try the flavors. Big portions. Recommend the flowing lava and passion fruit. I also saw lots of fresh ingredients in the kitchen. Support them at all costs!
Awesome ice cream. They have different flavors made at a time, today I had the Lychee and it was delicious. The owner was super friendly and gave us tips on where to go in the area.
This is the best ice cream I have had in Hawaii. Vegan- made from coconut milk. Everything they use is fresh and local. I told Peter it was my first time and he was very nice and gave my family of four a sample of every single flavor. Highly recommend!
Hands down the BEST ice cream I have ever had, anywhere, vegan or otherwise. All their flavors that I thought I knew, like chocolate and coffee, i was totally surprised by because they were 100% more delicious and full of actual, real flavor than anything I was expecting. AND, despite the coconut base, you don't get overwhelmed by that flavor, which was another nice surprise. Thank you Hawaiian Licks for totally raising the bar! I've already been recomming you to everyone and will continue to do so!
Vegan heaven. The staff was fantastic, he gave us samples of every flavor! The sizes are huge too, and very reasonably priced. The ice cream.... I have never had anything so good. Highly recommend!! You cant even tell it’s vegan. It’s THAT good.
This place is absolutely amazing! The people are so friendly and let us try every flavor. Each one was delicious! They showed us how they made it. So impressed that it’s all from natural ingredients that are locally grown! My husband and I are not vegan so we didn’t know what it would taste like, but they got us sold on it! The backyard lemon is so good and their lichee flavor is fantastic!
Not only is the “nice cream” delicious, the owner was gracious enough to give my wife and I a quick tour and some taste tests when the Hilo store wasn’t even open. We were very impressed by his aloha spirit and will spread the word to all our friends. The Backyard Lemon is my wife’s favorite and I liked the Massive Mint Chocolate Crunch. I was a big believer that great ice cream had to come from cows. Guess I’ll have to amend my convictions!
Great ice cream with real flavour. We tried all of the flavours available, and ended up getting the lilikoi and apple banana. The banana flavour was probably the best banana ice cream I've ever had! Make sure to stop by and check out this great shop. It's all vegan too, and the service is great!
This is a great place! I don't usually eat ice cream. The very helpful man at the counter has us try all the flavors. Vegan ice cream is not always as flavorful and creative as at Hawaii Licks. I ended up eating a lot of ice cream and will go back. Everyone in the group loved theirs too. You just have to go here if you are anywhere near Hilo.
This place has incredible, vegan "ice cream" made from coconut milk. I had chili mango whose flavor exploded in my mouth. Portions are very generous. Prices fair. Better than any chain ice cream store.
