What a fantastic place! Jim and I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and every part of our meal - the appetizers, the French onion soup and our entrees were exceptional! The staff was very attentive and we really enjoyed meeting Jason the Owner. This restaurant is now one of our absolute favorites.

I would have given this restaurant 5 stars because we liked the atmosphere and the food was delicious. Our waitor was excellent as well. Unfortunately, the night we were there the owner was at the reservation desk and frequently walking through the restaurant passing tables and not wearing a mask. He had a scarf type mask around his neck but never had it over his face. This was so annoying because we all had to have masks on if we were not seated in order to protect ourselves and others yet he put his patrons at risk by not following NC protocol. I guess because he's the owner he feels he doesn't have to comply and doesn't give a wit about his patrons and employees. Too bad because this is a nice place but that was a real turn off for us.

This is our favorite place to eat in Highlands, NC. The rustic decor, fireplaces, and simple furnishings belie the high culinary experience. All entrées are good, but my favorite is the halibut. I have had halibut at some of the best restaurants in Anchorage and the Log Cabin's competes favorably in freshness and preparation.

Words cannot describe just how amazing this place is. Jason has done a phenomenal job with this place and I absolutely love the food. I was able to try it for the first time and I am beyond satisfied. Will definitely be recommending so many people here and will be coming back as well. Such a lovely atmosphere in the Log Cabin. Look forward to going back

This was a great spot for a more upscale dinner. Generous portions and a nice atmosphere. More quiet than the normal spots in town which is a nice change of pace. Would definitely recommend giving it a try.

Service was fantastic. Waiter had a great knowledge of wine pairings and very fresh food. I got the lamb and wasnt wild about it. But the seasonal trout was very delicious. Would definitely return.

Don’t let this place fool you, it’s a steak house! The menu may not show it but they have a seriously awesome steak here and the cook masters in the kitchen know exactly how to grill one. After being turned away at several places off Main Street because the four of us didn’t make reservations ahead of time (as tourists I guess we should have known better) we stumbled upon this hidden gem nestled away from the pretentious down town strip. The host at the front was very courteous and we were quickly seated on the porch overlook. The cuisine selection was at first disappointing Antelope? Pheasant? the few cuts of beef available were covered up in peppercorn sauce or cilantro mint. After confiding in our server that all we wanted was a nice chunk of steak, without all the froufrou accoutrements our order for the Steak Diane (minus the Diane) was placed and bottle of red was uncorked to help pass the time. Several minutes later our server let us know they only had two Steak Diane’s left and we were going to be “upgraded” in order to accommodate our steak requests! When our plates arrived, the chunk of meat on them was about the size of a small car tire and the char was perfect but with a moist consistency one would expect from a true grill master who understood the secret to a hot grill and a long rest time. There was no need to ask for a steak sauce here, the flavor and the cut could easily stand on its own merits. Why this is not on the main menu I would not know, all I can do is recommend that they add it and also give the food wizard who runs their grill a raise. You will drop a few dollars in the place but I can assure you that when you order “off menu” it will be worth it!

The food was honestly outstanding. All four of us loved our food. The oysters were absolutely amazing. The only reason why I can't score a 5 star is because our service from our server was quite poor. The service from other folks was great, though. No liquor, but they had a nice wine list.
We will definitely be back.

Our 20 yr anniversary weekend started with much disappointment- having eaten at one of the top rated restaurants in the area - not once but twice - we had all but given up. We decided to take the risk and eat at the Log Cabin and it was absolutely amazing! Their was not one dish we ordered that disappointed! The owner, Jason, has perfected his menu and you won’t be disappointed!

The best fine dining Highlands has to offer. We go at least once every year we're in town. If you're fine dining frequent flyers you'll find this place passable if a bit lacking. If you don't indulge in fine dining often you'll be suitably impressed.
The staff tries but they are a bit inattentive and scattered, the dining room leaves a bit to be desired in its layout and the food doesn't always arrive the same temp on the plate or at the same time for all diners. But the flavor is good and the portions more than adequate. The locals seem to love it at any rate, so make reservations, just don't go in with high expectations if you're fine dining junkies like we are.
