Stopped last night solely due the billboard listing mile high pie. Wandered in after a ten hour drive, exhausted and not knowing what to expect. We were immediately greeted by tin foil wrapped pies that looked just like Grandma used to make!!! Waiter was super nice and informed us that the buffet had a tremendous selection. He was absolutely right. I have never seen a buffet with such great homemade selection. It was like Thanksgiving dinner on steroids. They didn't let us know about the inability to take a credit card or debit card until after we had eaten and they did have a $3.50 fee for using it. Would have been ticked, but before we even approached the ATM the lady told us we could mail the payment. See what I mean by a step back in time? Who does that these days? Honestly, it was like stepping back in time to a sweet little old fashioned cafe with homemade food and polite easy to talk with serving staff. Have to admit, we wondered if we would get home (4 hours away) and discover the next morning that it was all a dream. Definitely recommend trying it out! We were to stuffed for the pie, but we are going back!!!

I had the chicken and dumplings, sweet tea, and chocolate pie. The food was delicious and home made! Best I've had! Our server was Austin and he was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, and extremely professional. I would recommend stopping here to any and everyone. Thank you for a great experience.

In the winter morning, when the roads are foggy and you can’t see Mike’s in front of you, you see the signs for the blue springs cafe. It’s a wonderful place, warm, with plenty of booths and tables right off the Illinois highway. They serve their meals family style, so make sure you dig in with friends! Their foot high pies are true to their name, though a solid half foot comes from the meringue. The staff were super attentive and helpful, and the food itself warms your soul. It’s a great stop on a road trip, so long as your journey takes you there.

This is a great little stop especially if you're passing by on the 70 food was out really quickly and taste was great service was quick also. While we didn't enjoy a mile high pie the blueberries pie and strawberry rhubarb pies were both delicious.

I got chicken and dumplings from the specials. Good portions to fill you up, but not too much you can't finish. Everything was fresh, and homemade tasty. Comfort food, but first class. I had chocolate chip pecan pie for the dessert. The server heated it for me since it was a chilly that day. Best gooey pie I ever had. Yep, a great place I have had a few plates in and always leave happy and full.

Server was very nice. I'm not a huge fan of "family style" but the food was good. (I had "cod chunks", which were three very large pieces of cod, breaded & deep fried.) The food was plentiful. No complaints about the preparation or taste. And, as I said, the server was patient with our questions and delivered all items to our party of 6 as pleasantly and efficiently as possible.

A wonderful cafe that is worth the trip for lunch or pie. Many choices for your entree and did I mention the pie? You won't be disappointed with all of your choices for pie! Don't drive past Blue Springs Cafe!

Wow!! Great home/ "family style" service, cooking, & eating. Only 50-75 cars in the lot, yet no wait, still room for another table of 3. Ordered 3 meals to go, plus us three & drinks = about $150 + tip
