We visited Alamo Restaurant on Sunday, June 16th to celebrate Father's Day. The restaurant was offering Alamo Special consisting of simple starters, filling entrees and dessert. We noticed the menu did not show pricing. We thought the price for the special was the same as Mother's Day $20.00 per person. The restaurant was empty for Father's Day, there was no waiting. My family and I we go to Alamo to eat more than 3 times a week because the food and service is excellent. The price for the food quality is always good. This Sunday for Father's Day we should have asked the price for the Alamo Father's Day special, it was our mistake that we did not asked the price for the special. We all ordered the Alamo Ceviche for simple starters, I ordered the snapper fried with yellow rice and tostones, my husband and son ordered the honey garlic sirloin strip served with two side orders. The dessert my husband wanted the chocolate malted cake with ice cream, not part of the special we pay $8.00 extra for this dessert. I ordered the flan, it was very small and my son ordered the guava and cheese skewers, also very small. I just want to say the food was very good, but they should have told us the price of the special before we ordered the food and second we did not asked because we thought it was the same price they offer on Mother's Day Alamo special for $20.00. The food quality was good, the portions were okay except for the dessert, very small. The price for the margarita was good. Never order the food or beverages at any restaurant if the menu does not show the price. What a huge surprise when we asked for the check. The Alamo special was $40.00 per person, plus everything else we ordered. The check total with the tip $160.00. I think the Alamo special for Father's Day was over priced, and they should have showed the price of the special on the special menu or the server should have told us we are offering a Alamo special for Father's day for $40.00 consisting of a three course meal. We were very disappointed, thank God there was no waiting in the restaurant, (we were the only ones) and the service was good. Despite the good prices for lunch and regular menu the Father's Day special deceptively expensive. How come for Father's Day the special was so expensive and for Mother's Day the special was $20.00 per person. We should have ask the server the price for the special Father's Day Alamo special. We don't understand how come for Father's Day the Alamo special the menu show no price.

Fantastic food. Cuban twist but they'll make it traditionally if you ask. The owner is very sociable and the waitresses are super attentive. Good bang for your buck.

My gripe with these establishments is they seem to have over 100 glowing reviews from what appears to be “dud” accounts - the place doesn’t suck but it isn’t the absolute best. Food portions are small, black beans was more liquid than actual beans - rice was a teacup portion / there wasn’t any chicken soup “primary reason for visit” the tamales lacked any meat (they make you pay extra for a normal portion of meat) - food wasn’t bad, but didn’t stand out- there are definitely other places that give you tons of food (mountain of rice) with decent beans and meat that’ll hit the spot for under $6 Service was friendly, they do care about customer experience- but you ask once the patron hAs finished their meal. Again look @ review count.

A most enjoyable meal. The food was great. The service could not have been better. The tastes were better than those I have experienced in restaurants that have been twice the price. The decorator, prices and exterior appearance are those of a place that is not top notch, but the food and service are truly top notch. Make sure you try the guava dessert. If I were in the area for four days I would eat at Alamo four days in a row.
