There's this small town restaurant and bar in Hersey, named River Junction. Hersey is only 2 or 3 miles off M10, close to Reed City, and west or Evart, make a turn south at 180th Ave.
I will say, as many places as I have eaten a meal, this little town haven is one of the better! Honestly! The prices are reasonable, and the food a plenty. Staff is friendly and very good at customer service! Don't let the dark environment fool you, it's cozy and friendly! Hersey is one of those drive through places, but you just have to stop! You can feel the history! There should be a museum here!! I wish there was! It's not a perfect town, but are any anymore. It's home to some old timer farmers, but it's rich in what it was.
The restaurant is a must experience! Classic country playing on the speakers, squeaky saloon doors, knotty pine walls deeply rich coloring from the years of business.
Go to it! You will want to come again!
Our server, Madeline, was excellent! The Bloody Mary's were stellar, the portion sizes were surprisingly large, and all at real nice prices. Hidden gem 💎
Went to dinner here with a local recently and was told how good the food was. He was correct but should have also mentioned the friendly and knowledgeable staff. our Waitress Madeline was great and so was my meal. While the decor is pretty much what I expected for a small village restaurant/bar, the place was clean enough and the charm was obvious! Pretty extensive menu for such a small town, so it took me a while to decide. I look forward to my return visits in the future to try more of their menu selections. I liked their twist on a chicken Parmesan pasta dish. Different from any I've ever had before, not really traditional but VERY GOOD for a nice change! Hand battered deep fried chicken breast pieces were the pleasant differences in the non traditional entree!
My husband and I went here for dinner; we never knew hersey had a restaurant lol we are NOT disappointed one bit. The food fit the bill and was phenomenal! We got the jalapeno popper cheese dip, fried pickle chips, he got the crispy chicken wrap, and I got the river monster burger with pepper jack cheese and jalapeno slices. YUM! the staff was friendly and attentive; the place ran very smoothly especially with there only being 1 cook, 1 bar tender, and 1 waitress/hostess and having about half the restaurant full of customers! This was a GREAT find!
Food was delicious and our server was very friendly! Amazing onion rings!
A very good place to eat. We ate here several times and I tried multiple options. Everything was good and a great value!
We went on Halloween so it was nice to see the decorations and all the staff in costume. Service was amazing and we wanted for nothing. Thank you for a great meal.
Highly recommended!
My husband and I stopped in for breakfast.... steak and eggs...OMG! Have you ever stopped mid-meal, sat back in your chair to take a deep breath and prepare to go back in? It's that good! Worth hurting yourself over! Breakfast burrito was awesome as well. I don't love gravy so the waitress suggested their red burrito sause on the side. Yup! Another home run!
Waitress was great. Down to earth, friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. A++
We ordered a large pizza half carnivore half herbivore. My son got the steak and shrimp burrito. Everything tasted fabulous.

Fantastic waitress, food and atmosphere. Cool to sit in this ole train station waiting for one to come by and shake up all those old memories.
