I never really cared for hush puppies till I tried the ones at Skippers, still hot. Do I want an extra basket? Hellz yeah!

Stopped at Skippers in Henderson on the way to Raleigh. I'd read the positive reviews and waited to check it out. First, the food : Although the BBQ was a bit too vinegary for my taste, the fried chicken, free hush puppies, and mac and cheese were amazing. Chicken and hush puppies were fried to perfection..and not greasy at all. Restaurant was clean and COVID appropriate. The owner was super nice..a 4 generation business. If you're in the area its worth a stop.

Drove an hour to try this BBQ place ,(with my senior citizen parents). It was closed despite their website and Google saying they were open. So this isn't a bad review on the food or any particular staff issue, but you definitely should update your business hours or update Facebook letting people know you are closed (even for emergencies) I hope nothing bad happened and I am down to try again sometime in the future and will gladly update my review/score.

A childhood favorite, very disappointing. Service non existing, food took a terrible turn. Although the vegetables where good bbq,and slaw where not.. Hope they can correct a Henderson, one time hot spot..
