El Vaquero West

If you're looking for decent Mexican food, this is the place! If you're looking for good Alcohol drinks, definitely come here. I came here with my family during the busiest day in Haymarket on any given year.... Haymarket Day, the street was not only blocked off but with plenty of vendors and plenty of other food however, we decided to swing in here and give them a try. If you're not a local, you definitely didn't have a clue what was going on. Nevertheless the staff did a great job explaining what were the differences in the margaritas and in certain food choices as well even when they were busy and stressed. I would definitely come back here and definitely just have a another drink and their food. I had the taco salad as well and man was it really good. Definitely recommend them to anyone stopping by the Haymarket area.

My husband and I first tried this place about two years ago, and it immediately became our favorite Mexican restaurant. The outside isn't much to look at but don't let that fool you - the food is delicious, portions are large, prices are VERY reasonable, service is fast and staff is friendly. We come here regularly and are never disappointed!

Omg, this place is DELICIOUS! I decided to branch out from my usual shrimp fajitas and instead got the #18 (?), with the bean chalupa, bean w/cheese enchilada and the chile rellano. The best I've ever had and they give you soooooo much food for a great price. Quality food. I'm always leery to try anything with cheese (enchiladas, chile rellanos, etc), because some places, they add way too much cheese and it gets coagulated. Which I hate. And it's super oily. Not here. Fresh and delicious and the right amount of cheese. Definitely will have leftovers! And they are super nice, which always plays a part as well. I love their customer service and their food. They have great options for someone like me who is a full time vegetarian/part time pescatarian! It's worth it to fight with the parking, that's how good it is. 💓this place!!

Cozy, bright inside. Service was friendly & attentive from all 3 people I interacted with. Blue margarita was great. Chips fresh. Salsa was delicious, a bit on the spicy side (very good!) Chicken with Ranchero sauce (I think called pollo loco?) was great - the ranchero was delicious and the 3 chicken breasts were thin & cooked well. The rice and beans that came with it were especially good!! If I lived here, I would be here every week! This was exactly what I needed on my long day driving for work.

🌮🍹🎉 Just had the BEST Mexican food at El Vaquero West in Haymarket! 🙌 The 🌶️ salsa was fresh and the chips were also 🆕. The tacos were amazing 🤤, bursting with flavor 🌮👌. But what really made the experience unforgettable was the 👏 amazing service. Ramiro 🍸 was my favorite bartender - he's the 💣! So friendly and attentive, he really made us feel welcome. The vibe of the place was also on point 🎉, with a fun and welcoming atmosphere that we loved. 🙌 Overall, I highly recommend El Vaquero West to anyone looking for delicious Mexican food and great service. 🌮👍 It's the perfect spot for a fun night out or a casual dinner with friends or family. ☺️

an unexpected delight in our visit to the Gainesville, VA area. the four of us dined like kings and even had the desserts we shared amongst ourselves. {the fried ice cream was the best!} well worth the stop. still thinking about the delicious chicken i stole from my mom's quesadilla although my burrito was great.
