Orchid Thai Restaurant

This has become a must for at least one visit a week! The owners have managed to bring a true taste of Thai food to Central Texas. The feeling is very family oriented and comfortable to go there. The menus are easy to follow and to understand. Also, the staff is knowledgeable about what is in the dishes and are very willing to adapt most dishes to suit diet issues. The wait staff are family friendly and children are very welcome. The atmosphere is such that people are welcomed and return customers are asked if they wish to order their usual or their favorite items for their meal.

The food here was quite delicious and resembles the taste I ate in Thailand. I don't consider it a "hole in the wall" at all, a little odd decor, but it's still very clean and located in a nice area, but the food is what matters and it is good. We didn't even consider pricing when ordering, but when our check came out to just $18.00 we were just astonished! They're good sized dishes and each dish can probably feed 2 or 3 people. The quality is good, it's cheap, the portions are good, and I love that they give you BIG drink cups when you order tea or water.

This place is now called Grandmas Thai Cusine. They were awesome with making substitutions. The Tom Kuh Kai is amazing! I think it's made with coconut milk with white rice, mushrooms, parsley, onion, and your choice of meat. The hubby got duck with fried rice, it's a little dry, but we could have added a curry sauce or something else. Order took less than 10 minutes. Definitely going back!
