River Inn Bar & Grill

My husband is trying to convince me not to write another rave review of The River Inn of Hanover because he worries it will encourage more people to eat there and create long wait times. However, they deserve this and more. Not only is the food incredible and something our family, friends, and out-of-town guests always enjoy, but the first-class service and "small town," welcoming atmosphere are amazing. Even if you have to wait for a table, hanging out by the fire pit is sure to bring great conversation with fun people. The entire team there is friendly and genuine; we love chatting with them all. They remember their customers well, even when it's packed or there are long waits (just Friday and Saturday nights). They are very attentive...drinks are refilled before you even realize they're half full. It's a family friendly restaurant, too, so come for a date, bring the whole family, have a business meeting, or hang out with friends.

We've had so many things on the menu and buffet and everything has been awesome. Tonight we tried their new seasoned sour cream and WOW! It is the best we've ever had. You get a large serving for $1, much less expensive than at other restaurants and enough that both of us has leftovers for another meal. Our favorites: Oriental Chicken Wrap, Prime Rib, Meatloaf Sandwich, Mini Tacos, Reuben Sandwich, Reuben Pizza, all burgers, Blackened Chicken Alfredo, Blackened Chicken Sandwich, Veggie Quesadilla, Veggie Pizza

Kudos to Jodi and Rick for making River Inn such a wonderful place for our community and for our family to celebrate the end of the school year... and many other occasions over the years. They are so incredible supportive and generous of our community. They give to every school group and civic organization that asks for donations or for space for a fundraiser. They epitomize the small town charm we all love about our community.

Remarkable. The family and I were driving past here and decided to give it a try. It was a Saturday evening and Hanover's Oktoberfest celebration was on the same evening, so the place was absolutely packed. In spite of this, our food came out quite quickly, and we were treated as though we were the only customers in the whole place. I can honestly say that the service was as friendly and attentive as I have ever experienced anywhere, any time.
The food was fantastic- the prime rib sandwich alone is worth coming back for. Everything we had was really excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. You can bet that we will be coming back again.

River Inn is fantastic! We have been going there for several years! We have not had a bad meal there at all. Our personal favorites are Jackie's Best Pizza (we have yet to find a better pizza place), Cheeseburger, Ribs, and Little Witches (appetizer). This is a small restaurant (so expect to wait) and the staff is very friendly. If you tell them it's your Birthday, you will get a free dessert.

Today was my third trip to the River Inn and all three visits have been above average. Service has been A+ and the food has been great. We tried the pizza today and it was cooked just a little longer than most places; lightly browning the cheese on top, which is exactly how I like it! We also had the "Gangs" wings, and while very good we thought they would have been excellent with a buffalo type dipping sauce. Bonus points for serving our bottled beer in coozies on the patio. We'll be back for sure!

The place was packed. We opted to sit outside and it was a nice day. Pizza was very good and the blackened walleye was excellent. Nice place with great atmosphere.
