Acropolis Diner

So I’ve come to this diner for the past 30 years on and off, as I’m from Hamden. Food is good but service leaves a bit to be desired, even though we were one of four couples in the entire place at lunchtime, two sandwiches took over 15 minutes to get served. By the time the food came, we had a few bites and had to go. The waitress was very friendly though. I have to give props where deserved!

I just went in to use the bathroom on a road trip to pick up some gym equipment. Bathroom was reasonably clean and the staff was friendly. My girl got a hot dog and it was very plane though....fries not beer battered like I prefer, but they were decent. Their deserts looked on point but I resisted. They had baklava but I didn't taste it.

If you're looking for that comfort food breakfast/late night diner food, then this is definitely the spot in Hamden! There is no better place in my opinion that is open during all convenient times to grab some pancakes and eggs. The service does take a little while depending on how busy they can get. It is usually 5-10 minutes to get your order taken once you sit down, and then 10-15 minutes to get your food after you order. That being said the staff is very kind and respectful and the food is always fresh and delicious. If you can try their pumpkin spice pancakes I highly recommend them! The 3+3 is great for hungry folk and their chicken salad is a great healthy alternative. Again if you want good, traditional American diner food this is the best spot in Hamden!
