This place is the bomb, good food, good price and outstanding waitress. Sometimes there is a wait, but it's worth waiting.
Wonderful fresh breakfast....friendly staff....best place to start a North Shore morning
Not bad. Quiet and quaint little breakfast place. The location is great and the service is relatively fast so I’ve got no real complaints. Didn’t leave overly enthusiastic about the food but it was decent. The home fries are the star here for sure.
Enjoyed the On the Lip breakfast two eggs any style in my case over medium with bacon, dill & rosemary herb home fried potatoes, buttery sourdough toast with fresh papaya. Absolutely delicious! The restaurant is easy to pass up it is very small however it's ample parking is in the back of the building. This place is always packed which further demonstrates how good the food is.
Absolutely surprised me. The place was at first a bit hard to find (I blame Apple maps) but they had a nice parking lot in the back. When we walked in, I found the place to be very inviting. We sat down and were handed our menus, which put me off a little at first. They were made of paper with no laminate and 1/2 of it was appetizers, with the other half left for salads and the actual entrees. I was afraid I had made a bad choice of picking this place until our waitress came to assist us. It was then I discovered all the hidden items on the menu. (Ex: specialty pasta for the day, specialty fish for the day, etc.) I ended up taking the fish with mashed potatoes (I forget the exact variety of potato but it was a very rich and definitely exemplified its root-likeness) with a mint tea. I still was unsure if I was going to get the great meal the other reviewers had promised on this app... Until the meal came out. They had layered everything so perfectly so that the juices from the fish soaked downward into the potato, and then the curry esque sauce would sink in from the sides, creating a whirlwind of epic flavor. It was not only my plate which was divine. Our family was going from plate to plate testing all of the different meals. All were great. At the end of the meal, we ended up getting dessert (besides the fact that it was my birthday and I wanted cake, the chefs had actually managed the portions so well so that we surprisingly had room for it.) The cheesecake was decent, but the real thing that ended up sealing the deal was the pudding another member of our family got. Above the pudding (if I remember correctly) there was a pool of caramel and sea salt. NEVER IN MY LIFE WOULD I HAVE THOUGHT SUCH A COMBINATION COULD BE POSSIBLE. The texture of the sea salt combined with the richness of the caramel went perfectly with the creaminess of the pudding. I regret not getting it instead.
Incredible! Triple D worthy
Amazing dinner at Cafe Haleiwa! Polenta crostini with olive tapenade and salamis was outstanding! Salad could have used a little more dressing. Entrees (gnocchi and fish) were very good.
My new favorite breakfast spot! Awesome breakfast potatoes.
Blueberry Pancakes!. Awesome place to relax and have great food and fresh tropical juice.
Fast and friendly service breakfast fast and priced for the value
Simple fantastic food and service. I always enjoy eating here.
Start your N. Shore day here. A hearty and healthy breakfast and lunch. Worlds away, nutritionally speaking, from the McDonald's across the street. Bustling surfer-chick waitresses bring your water and coffee right off, the food is fresh and well-prepared to energize your active N. Shore day and their walls full of gorgeous art and photography inspire.
Phenomenal food! Love the Eggs Benedict, got there early enough that there was still one left! 🤩 Chicken chili verde burrito was amazing, steak rancheros banging and pancake with bananas, blueberries and Nutella added were the perfect ending to the meal. Possibly the best breakfast on the North Shore, highly recommended! 🏝️🌯🥞🫐🍫🍌🍳
We ate breakfast here today. Let me just say it was so very delicious. Thank you

Unpretentious and delicious. Perfect for a family with pre-teens; the portions were large enough for a full midday meal. It also wasn't swarming with hordes of [other] tourists. Definitely worth your time if looking for brunch/lunch while heading up the North shore.
I visited the place early in the morning on a week day. The atmosphere in the place was so nice and inviting. It was like being on your living room while someone else took care of your breakfast and coffee. The prices are friendly and and portions are great. Definitely I will visit again and invite who ever hasn't visit yet. Wishing you guys good fortune and success.
The food was really good. I had the Nutella Waffles and my husband had the Steak Ranchero. Both were delicious. The outside seating is nice (other than some ants and flies of corse) we saw two kitties walk by😍
Can't beat the food! My kids got pancakes and french toast. My wife got the breakfast burrito, and I got the Loco Moco. The loco Moco gravy was kicked up to the last drop! The whole meal was outstanding and there was nothing leftover.
This place is not fancy. Other reviews have said this. It's very modest. Hardly anything more than a hole in the wall really but this is not why you come here. You come for the delicious food and it can't be beat. If you're out for an early morning surf session, then this is probably the place you come to fill yourself back up for the rest of the day.
Everyone was super friendly. We'll be back to this place next time we're back in the North Shore!
Little pricey to have paper plates and flimsy silverware. Food was pretty good.
Out of all the places we went to eat, this is the one my family kept wanting to come back to. You can find fancy dining on the north shore anywhere but we were attracted more to the modest, down to earth Haleiwa Cafe.
Food is served on paper plates, but I loved it. (Again if you’re looking for fancy, this place isn’t it. And again, that’s part of why my family loved it.)
I got the Country Breakfast plate and was able to share it with my two kids. I added sour dough toast and the veggie sauté (kale, mushroom, squash, tomato, onion and peppers) and ate the eggs and my kids ate the pancakes and bacon. The food isn’t fancy and neither is the seating area but…if you’re in Hale’iwa, isn’t that best? The dining area was comfy and and had a friendly atmosphere.
I’m SUPER picky about iced coffee and rarely find one I like but I loved theirs!!! I got the iced coffee latte. Soooo good.
On top of all that, the staff is so great and accommodating and friendly!!! <3
We’re going to miss coming here after we go home today but will be sure to visit again on future trips.
(I don’t leave reviews often and this is the only place I visited in Hawaii that I felt I had to leave a review for.)
This place is awesome! Excellent food, great service, and delicious coffee!
The Hawaiian Delight waffle is to die for. The Kalua Pork Eggs Benedict are insanely good. And the steak and eggs were good as well. Baby had waffle and bacon which were more than enough to fill her up.
Most delicious breakfast ever! A must visit in Haleiwa! I tried the Breakfast in a Barrel but a guy that’s been coming for 25 years said everything in the menu is excellent. The lady at front desk who took our order was so nice too and offered recommendations. Would come every morning if I could!
