You might not think Hackettstown would be home to a great sushi and steak house, but you'd be wrong. The menu is amazing, you can literally pick from over 50 different kinds of sushi rolls. We opted for a sushi platter and were not disappointed. The fish was fresh and delicious. The owner even came by to check that everyone was happy with their meals. Looking forward to coming back.

Beautiful decor, decent ramp but the doors are heavy, there's lots of space for maneuverability once you get inside but it's a little awkward to get inside. The food was fantastic!!! We just had sushi but several rolls. It was a lovely night out.

We tried the hibachi restaurant downstairs.. While the service, atmosphere, and menu offerings were all good, the food was slightly bland, especially the mushroom soup/broth which tasted like warm water. Hibachi dinners were similarly bland, but not bad. Will definitely try again.

reservations for 530 last saturday, some of our party was late due to picking up some wine but the staff was very accommodating and we were able to sit around 6. took a few minutes to get glassware and drinks, understandable as they were quite busy. hibachi orders included calamari, filet, shrimp and chicken. the soup was good but definitely needed more onions. the salad was just ok. the show - you go to hibachi for the food and the show right? we had no show. the "volcano" was 2 slices of onion haphazardly stacked and ignited. the chef threw some folks some food. that was the extent of the show :-( the food - I had shrimp and filet. The noodles and fried rice were bland. veggies were ok, broccoli was pretty good. My filet and shrimp were a little better but ultimately bland as well. super disappointing. additionally we were sat under a vent blowing hot air all night, it was uncomfortable but we weren't in the mood to make a fuss about it. may end up going back to sakura in parsippany next time.

Had reservations at 7 for hibachi and wasn't seated until 745ish (arrived at 650). All the food was good but the meat was nothing special. For the price I'd expect higher quality meat. Loved the pasta, rice, and veggies. Sauce they serve on side is also delicious. Other comments about service and guy with the gong is understandable but that is part of the experience! Love that. Feel bad giving 3 stars as it is a fun place to eat but food quality of the meat does not justify high costs for hibachi. 3 stars for being seated late and quality of meat.

Easily the best service in this area. I never hold places to unreasonable standards, probably because I'm in the industry and I'm a little more lenient than most, and I get it, but Fujiyama exceeds my expectations every time. I mostly order takeout and it's always correct and ready at the time promised. And the gentleman who runs the show, maybe he's the owner, he is just fantastic. So polite and sincere. Also, I never have leftovers. Not saying the portion sizes are small. I just finish it like a gluttonous little gremlin.

The restaurant is appealing to the eye.. the decor is pretty. Our waiter was unfriendly at best. He seemed annoyed by our presence.. he was not accommodating at all. The soup was bland - tasted like warm water. The salad was just iceberg lettuce that was clearly on its way out with minimal dressing. The main food was not the best either - the rice was bland and mushy and tasted slightly of cleaning spray, the noodles were also bland. In my group, we got chicken, steak, shrimp and scallops. The chicken and steak were dry. The shrimp was overcooked. The best meat was the scallops. The vegetable serving was very small, which was disappointing! And if all of that wasn't bad enough... there was no show! The cook tossed some food into our mouths bath that was it! No volcano, no fire tricks... and I had a child with me who loves the show part of it! Definitely needs improvement in many areas.

I frequent Fujiyama, but I usually go upstairs for the sushi restaurant. A friend had mentioned hibachi and I said "hey, I know a spot! I haven't had their hibachi but the sushi and Japanese restaurant upstairs is phenomenal". We went to the downstairs hibachi restaurant and boy we were happy we did. The atmosphere in there was great, a little more up tempo bit that was expected for the kind of food we were about to receive. The gentleman who is always very gracious to see us from upstairs was making his rounds to the tables downstairs (the man works very hard and makes sure to get to every table to let you know he's around) We ordered our food (plus some from the sushi menu) and waited for the show to begin. When they brought the good out it was a great portion, and it was all cooled perfectly. The man working the grill was efficient and fun. I always recommend this place for the service, quality of food, and how well it's run on the upstairs sushi restaurant. Now I'm happy to be able to finally recommend it to people for the whole package that they offer. Great job Fujiyama!
