Old school, mom and pop indeed! You gotta know to look for it, because it doesn't look like much from the outside. Once you are in, pay the $14 or so dollars for the lunch buffet, and dig in. Come hungry, leave satisfied. I can't even get into the food because everything I have had was lovely. I haven't been back in a while because I no longer work up the street, so I'm not sure how things have been during COVID. Quality food all the way around, so please enjoy yourself.

This is a Foodie must. Excellent homemade Italian dishes served cafeteria style, they've been around for years. Small corner store with limited seating but outstanding food.

What a surprise! We were meeting a few people for a business meeting with meatballs and we're given directions to Martino's in Hackensack. I always check out the "restaurant" that I'm being sent to, but all I could find was Martino's Grocery. So, to Hackensack we went. We pulled up to a small storefront surrounded by houses and... well, we all thought it looked like a scene right out of the Sopranos. When we walked in our thoughts were compounded by all the pictures of the Sopranos hanging on the walls.
The place looks frozen in time, like it's right out of my memory as kid. A little dingy, but very clean. Glass cases, steam table and behind the counter there were 3 women...3 generations of Martinos. Front and center on a large easel is a large photo, a memorial to the late Vincenzo Martino, the proprietor and "neighborhood mayor" of the neighborhood.
Now the food...here's the shock. There's the staples like meatballs, sausage and peppers and chicken Parm, but the 3 different types of fish and Shrimp Fra Diavolo...all delicious and at fantastic prices!
Seriously, unless you are a Sopranos fan this is not a destination place, but if I were you're within 2-3 miles of Martino's and are hungry, you'd be doing yourself a favor by stopping by...oh yeah, save room for the filled to order canolis and espresso.

This place is an Old School "Mom & Pop" place to grab a G-R-E-AT meal !
Although kinda EXPENSIVE for a lunch buffet, I promise you, that in TRUE ITALIAN HOME COOKING/HOSPITALITY, these ladies will NOT allow you to leavee with any room in your belly! Classics like Baked Ziti, Manicotti , Chicken Parmesan, Sausage & Pepperswere just a few of the items they offered the day I visited.
The owner staff is very friendly as are the family members that all work therewith yheir very authentic Italian accents! 🤗 The place is very clean as well!

Small but beautifully authentic. The food is excellent and the woman working (owner I think) was incredibly sweet. Would recommend if you're passing through.
