Sunset Grille

This course is in great shape. I've only played it a handful of times since I moved away in 2001, and I was definitely impressed on this trip. It was worth the 2 hour drive. The course was nearly empty on a Thursday, and I was able to play 18 in just under 2 hours. It was nice having the GPS screens in the carts as well.

This is my favorite course in Gulf Breeze/Navarre area. Staff is normally friendly and rates are in line with the competition. I’ve played a dozen or so rounds here and it’s always enjoyable. The halfway bar is always a must stop. The concessions here are always tasty. I do miss the beer deals they used to have so we could stock up for the back nine since there isn’t a cart girl offering refreshments. Troy at the pro shop has given me lessons a couple times and it has proven good results so I’m happy about that. He has a unique approach and understands how to approach each persons lesson the way they can understand it. My wife was new to golf and her swing drastically improved in one session. My only gripe about this course is that the homeowners on the course will simply hop on behind us and this disturbs the tempo of our gameplay. We normally play with a 4 stack and a random drives off his property behind us and makes us feel rushed as they haven’t exercised proper golf etiquette. There doesn’t appear to be a marshal to regulate this when I come so that is the only downside. Greens keeper are usually on it but it’s hard to when not many players repair their divots. I would like to see less weeds on the course but it hasn’t affected my gameplay. One recommendation I will make is to renovate the practice range. I enjoy practicing/playing during the summer but it’s flat out miserable June-August due to there being no covered areas. I would be here multiple times a week if there was a covered awning with artificial turf instead of moving the line back and forth each day. A cost effective setup like Gator Lakes would suffice. The club house is a beautiful sight and an enjoyable experience. All the food here is pretty good and fair priced. Service is usually great, we have no meaningful complaints.

Havent played here in years due to declining conditions, but a few friends said it was in good shape. They were right! Kudos to the new owners! You can see the work theyve done and made smart decisions on the course (reducing un needed bunkers and planting taller grasses). I hope they can keep it up. Will be back!

My wife and I played on August 18, 2023. The course was in very nice condition. Kudos to the starter, food and drink experience on #7, and the golf shop. However, the teeing locations on each tee box were inadequate, hard to see, and had only one marker at each location. There were no trash facilities on the course, no markings for tee and hole locations, and there was no hazard markings. The price to play should afford a much better golfing experience.
