El Paso Restaurant

We order 3 breakfast to go. Very bad food. The sunny side up eggs were totaly over cooked. Very poor quality carne asada. Very poor quality cheese. The only thing we eat was the beans, the rest go to trash. This was my 2nd and last time to go and order in this place. If you want good breakfast, totaly opposite to this Mexican place, order in the restaurant in Gretna called "El Ranchito" you will see the big difference.

Quality and quantity of the food here is outstanding. However, when restaurant management considers pricing, the atmosphere is also a factor. I felt that the prices were very high considering the atmosphere. El Paso's is well described as a little hole-in the-wall restaurant attached to a bar next door. (The Doghouse) You could easily drive by it without knowing it was there. Due to the prices, we probably won't return since there are many other comparable Mexican joints with nicer atmospheres and better pricing. We don't regret going though!

I am giving this restaurant 4 stars mainly because the experience my husband and I had was very pleasant thanks to the waitress. We went here to eat on a Sunday afternoon. This restaurant has a lot of repairs and maintenance happening at this moment, so don't expect a some what non-noisy environment while you're dining. If you have little kids or even babies that aren't use to being a noisy place then dining here (at this moment) may not be suitable for your family. Our waitress was very nice and even paid attention to our 5 month old son! She was sweet. The food was pretty good. It was not overall seasoned or salty. My food was hot and tasty, and so was my husband's. The sweet tea wasn't my favorite, but not the worse I have had. The fried ice cream was divine! Overall, I would dine here again, but possibly after they finish the repairs and face lift.

We used to be regulars here since they opened. I'm assuming due to inflation, the food has been cut by 50-60%. Recently we went to see the band, felt obligated to order something besides just drinks. Nachos came with barely any cheese on them and chicken that tasted canned or from an MRE and a tiny dish of the toppings. Maybe 1/3 what you would normally see. We asked our waitress for more queso because it seemed like it had been cut in half and we were charged the $6 for a side of queso. Mind you this is the same tiny size dish (one little scoop of queso) that the bean dip they freely give out with the free chips and salsa is in. I dont fault you for having to increase costs to maintain the same food provided but to serve substantially less amount of food for the same cost without saying anything or telling me the extra charge...... Sorry to say but we won't be coming back anytime soon.

El Paso has a plain exterior and a basic, but clean interior. The waiter was friendly. And, to check out, you pay at the register. I ordered the ground beef enchiladas dinner with green sauce, which came with lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream on top, along with rice & beans. The price was fair and the serving size was big. Better-than-average chips & salsa were complimentary. My friend ordered three taco varieties, which were small, but delicious, he said. Our only complaint was the charge for water. Their food is excellent. RJT
