The Merchant House

I went to the Merchant House for the first time for our wedding anniversary. Let me just say, if you are wanting fabulous steaks and live in Western Ohio, you won't be disappointed. Our meals were outstanding, good atmosphere, and the service was great too! Our waiter gave us a complimentary dessert and an anniversary card - signed by all the staff! It was a fantastic experience. So excited to learn they are opening a second location in Celina, OH in 2023. We will be back and consider this our top restaurant in the area.

Wow! Just wow. We were in town for a quick business trip and this place was recommended by our hotel's front desk attendant. So glad we've asked. The atmosphere, the food and service were superb. Drink list was extensive and everything we tried was wonderful and tasty. I will honestly schedule more trips this way in the future just to be able to revisit The Merchant House again. Special compliments to Jonathan P, our server that night, for an amazing experience!

We went with our toddler who devoured every bite of anything we gave her. This just doesn't happen. The Scotch Eggs are fantastic, probably the best I've ever had. The pretzel is some kind of German style that was crazy delicious. I had the chicken and waffles. This comfort food meal was by far the best I've had in a long while from a restaurant. My lady enjoyed her meal as well, though I don't quite remember what it was. The chili was really unique and flavorful as well. This is a great place to eat, and we will be back soon! Sorry we had to jet out since the baby wasn't participating after having her fill! The good news is, the leftovers were BOMB the next day. Thanks guys!

I have never been into this downtown establishment until today. I foolishly held tight that as a Darke County man this place was not up my lane. Greatfully a friend convinced me to give it a try. Once I walked in I was immediately welcomed with friendly staff who were eager to both greet me and see that I was seated. Their house beer Shorts Brewing was a great combo to my meal. Crisp and smooth, I was happy to try something other than a Bud Light and this wasn't too far out of my wheel house. I tried the Chicago dip as an appetizer and could have had it as my meal. Definitely have to try. If you are a potatoes guy definitely sample their take on fries. For my main course I was decided to really step out and try the ravioli with crab and lobster. The portion was enough as a meal and tasted great. Very fresh well flavored. In short I would highly recommend The Merchant House for an evening out and something different from what Darke County has to offer. Well worth the money. I will return.

Maybe a couple more pineapples on the skewers. Changed our mind this past week, went in on a Thursday was not that busy. Waited for aprox 8 minutes to be spoke to, first in line, because hostess was also taking orders outside of restaurant. Finally seated and waiter, who had a busy table, did not even acknowledge us after 10 min.to even say...It will be a few minutes. Kept running by our table, but no, just a minute. I know they are short on help, but that was noted due to not filling all tables. Just sad that a really nice restaurant is lowering its standards. We left and went to JTs brew and grill and had excellent service and food!! Maybe next time!
