WOW! Where has this BEEN all my life?
I walked into the first time and was graded immediately buy a battery friendly young woman behind the bar. I explained to her that I've eaten food from all around the world but never Malaysian cuisine. I ask for recommendation and she immediately direct me to the national dish of Malaysia, telling me that the restaurants version was very good. She showed it to me in the menu and I agreed immediately to give it a shot.
I also asked about an appetizer and was directed to the Malaysian pancakes with chicken curry which I have to say, may have been the best thing I've eaten all month!
The meal was terrific, but the interaction with the staff was every bit as important to the overall quality of the meal. Not only did my server continue to have conversation with me throughout the meal to ensure I was satisfied and enjoying her recommendations, but I had the honor and privilege of meeting Alex, the owner who came out and checked on me at several points as well. I asked him about the traditional ways of enjoying each course and he was very kind and engaging.
Besides the fact that it's less than a mile and a half for my home, the food was worth a much longer trip. I'll be back regularly!
Yellow Ginger did not disappoint! I organized a group from the Upstate Vegans to go for dinner and the restaurant was so accommodating. They offer a separate vegan menu so you know exactly what you can order from without hidden animal products like fish sauce. I would definitely recommend this place and while you are there, try the Vegan Pineapple Fried Rice - it is amazing!!
