So Tina Hale Bartlett recommended this place and then Todd Bartlett chimed in with they have the best Tiramisu ever so we had to break open the piggy bank and give it a try.. About a half hour drive from home, I had called ahead and made a reservation and asked if I would be able to get my scooter through the restaurant. Not only did they find us a nice table with lots of driving room, but they had the foresight to clear a coupe chairs so I could park right up to the table. What a wonderful dining experience, there is nothing like a small family run restaurant to make you feel like royalty. We were served by Daniella who is the daughter of the owners.
I started out with the slow food pictured above. I like to have shrimp with my Escargot, snails get lonely and the shrimp keep them company. They did not have a shrimp appetizer but they made me one based on their Scampi dinner. Did I mention how a small family run place treats you so well. Both were wonderful. Kathy had Stuffed Mushrooms and Zucchini and she said they were both great (she took some of the mushrooms home). I had the Veal Marsala (once again slow food, the baby cows walk kind of like me :>) and once again they did not mind customizing the dish for me as I do not like mushrooms. Kathy had Lobster Ravioli and she really liked it. She finished off with some Canolia (you just cannot take the Italian out of the gal) and of course I had the Tiramisu, it was the reason we came. It was to die for, not overpowered with chocolate like most place do. Only a little wet at the bottom which Daniella said she would work on as I found out she was the one who makes it. Out of the entire meal the only thing disappointing was the Cesar salad, but them I am spoiled by the table side prepared Cesar.
It is our go to place (favorite) in Greensboro. We go at least once a week. The staff is friendly and efficient. Sal and Debbie are almost part of our family. We celebrate family occasions there. Everyone loves the food. Sals fish and seafood are our favorites, always fresh and tasty. The pasta is always cooked just right. Save room for dessert-always a treat. It is the closest to Italy you can get minus the ten hour flight.
