We have only been going to the Putnam Inn for a couple of years now, but what a find! We love this place! We have never had a bad experience at this eatery! We took some family members to lunch on Saturday 7/2/16. The buffet was switching over from breakfast to lunch when we arrived. The lady that seated us said it would be about 10 minutes or so to be totally ready, so we sat down & our waitress came & took our drink orders. We got drinks in a timely manner. The buffet was ready for lunch within the time the lady said it would be. I must say, everyone raves about the fried chicken BUT let me say, I tried the porkchops for the first time & they were the bomb! I hardly needed a knife to cut it!! I have NEVER had pork chops in a restaurant, let alone on a buffet, that were soooo tender & had such good flavor! WOW! I have read some mixed reviews on this place, but I can honestly say we have never had a bad experience with the food, the employees or the decor of the dining room! The tables are clean, the buffet seems to always be clean, even the silverware! Real cloth napkins for a buffet?! What a treat! I like the decor. Yes, it's plain, but I'm there to eat the delicious food, not to get decorating ideas. The fancier the decor, the more you pay. The price for the buffet is very reasonable considering the type of food being served! Maybe we aren't picky people, but I always leave this place with a good feeling! I say, if you leave here hungry, it's your own fault! I wouldn't change a thing about this place!
The breakfast buffet food was very good. Probably the best French toast I have had at a restaurant. It was a little pricey to me. It’s kinda hard to eat $11.00 worth of breakfast food and then get charged for drinks on top of that. Can’t wait to go back some Friday night to try their seafood buffet.

We used the Putnam Inn to cater our wedding in Greencastle this past August. Our experience with them was phenomenal. Rhonda was easy to work with then entire time, from our initial tasting and throughout all the email correspondence finalizing the details leading up to the wedding. The food was also excellent! Food was a very important part of our wedding. We wanted there to be plenty of it and for no one to leave hungry. We also wanted to ensure we offered clearly marked vegetarian options and gluten free options for our guests. The Putnam Inn was able to provide all of this at a great price! The food was wonderful (from the hors d’oeuvres, the dinner buffet, right to the wonderful chocolate fountain and dessert bar). The presentation was also very nice (from the buffet tables to the lovely napkins and glassware). The servers were also great and made sure everyone had what they needed. Compared to the other caterers we looked at, Putnam Inn by far had the best quality, wonderful buffet options, and even better prices! We had multiple guests comment on how wonderful all the food was and I do not think anyone left hungry! I would definitely recommend the Putnam Inn for those looking for wonderful home cooked wedding catering, or catering for any other event!
Friday night buffet is amazing! It's their seafood buffet. Even if you're not a seafood fan their are plenty other delicious entrees, side dishes, a very good salad bar with a lot to choose from and plenty of delicious desserts! Everything is fresh and kept well filled. The staff is always very prompt and exceptionally friendly. Best buffet ever!!!
My family had surprise birthday party for me here today...love everyone who worked today and other days too! Food top notch and staff great!
The Putnam Inn is a great place for the whole family! So many delicious options for everyone, even those picky eaters. The service is fast and always friendly! Whenever you are in make sure to try one of their homemade cinnamon roles they are out of this world!😍
I always come here when I'm in Greencastle. Good food, great service! There's a wide selection of food, and the omelet cook will come to your table and ask you if you want an omelet. They'll also bring the omelet to you. If there's a better breakfast buffet in central Indiana, I'm not aware of it!
This place is so fantastic. I typically loathe buffets, can't help it, I'm a complete foodie and partial food snob. I drove over an hour to try this place with another foodie friend who promised I would not be disappointed. She was so right!! I didn't try one thing that was bad. The crab legs were amazing. The cinnamon rolls..Ohhhhh myyyyy diet be damned were meant in your mouth fantastic. Run.. Uber... Drive.. Bike whatever... Just go eat there!!! :))) Job very well done!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍

This was my first time eating there and I have to that they have very good and delicious food, I love how everything was homemade!! The staff there was really friendly as well!!
I live in Terre Haute but was in Greencastle for the day for work. Google maps suggested I try this place and I was not disappointed. I had the buffalo chicken wrap and it was so good. I'll definitely be coming back next time I'm in town.
They did an excellent job with our wedding reception catering! The food was delicious and EVERYONE raved about the cake. The wait staff was professional and very helpful. Thank you Putnam Inn!!
Great food and the people that work there are amazing. The owner and her family are such good people.
Definitely check this place out on a Friday or Saturday. The seafood buffet is legit and so are the crab legs. The main buffet is $20 and an additional $20 for the crab legs. The frog legs and shrimp were good as so was the salad bar. Don't pass on dessert because the dessert bar is phenomenal!

Love their salad and hot bars and everything I've eaten here is excellent. Highly recommended for variety, generous portion sizes and healthy options as well as good deals on daily specials. It has a homey, comfortable feel, accompanied by friendly service. Take-out service has never disappointed.
Also, they have a brand newly redone bar and conference room that are beautifully decorated. Such a nice new change with a still comfortable and yet sleek atmosphere. Great daily drink specials, too. Thought I'd add some pics of the new remodel.
Buffet was decent. Couple of dishes were under the heat lamp for too long. Meat loaf and brisket were good. Some great cobbler on the dessert table.

I recently attending this wedding everyone is complaining about and am very confused by all the horrible reviews being written… I know everyone at our table thought the food was as great as it always is.. and also did not hear anyone else at the wedding complain! I worked for the PI for 7 years and did many catering events myself. I know how stressful it can be… but to me none of the catering staff seemed overwhelmed and I think they did a phenomenal job as always. Just wanted to share that not everyone had a “horrible” experience.
Also I just want to point out that if you are unsatisfied with your services— it’s absolutely reasonable to reach out to the business with your complaints and see how they can make it right— which I know Rhonda would. But asking all your friends/ family to leave horrible reviews online… is that really necessary.. what are you trying to accomplish… ruin their reputation? These are human beings & a family owned business.. maybe we can all try and be a little bit more compassionate ❤️
My first time here. I got the dinner buffet and was happy with the selection. Mac and cheese, fried chicken, chicken and noodles, popcorn shrimp, steamed vegetables, a salad bar with a lot of choices, and several other things. Waitstaff were all very friendly, checked on me for my drink, and the place was very clean and well lit. Never had a problem with food being on the buffet it was always well stocked when I went up. It is a bit pricey at $20 for the buffet but they also have a regular sit-down menu as well. I saw a few people with stuff off the menu and the food looked terrific.
Putnam Inn did the catering for our wedding and we were very happy with their services. The food was amazing and the guests loved it. They were also very communicative through the wedding planning process, and seemed very organized from the time of our food tasting throughout the wedding day. Definitely would recommend!
