Captain D's

Tatiana greeted me as I walked in and patiently waited as I made a decision on what to order. Their special deals on the board are affordable and filling. My order was prepared pretty quick (2-3 minutes). The fries were golden colored, but the fish came out dark and tasting of old oil. The lobby and restrooms are clean, and the drinks/condiments station was well organized.

I have been a customer a Captain D's for over 22 years. This Captain D's in Grandview was the WORST I've ever been to. I have never gotten a fish meal that was so greasy, lukewarm and unappetising. I ordered 2 Lobster rolls as appetizer and received fake crab meat on a lukewarm roll. The pictures show what I paid $19 for . I was dialing the area manager phone number when the clerk told me to move forward, that I was blocking traffic. There was no one behind me. And the area manager whose phone number is in Tennessee has never called me back.

For the SECOND TIME in 3 days (last 2 visits), my side salad (which costs EXTRA) was WET, SMELLY SLUDGE. It was more brown than this pic, last time. Also, NO PLASTIC-WARE BOTH TIMES. Further, they included a TINY tiny piece of chicken that was mangled, also, on that previous occasion. The salad picture doesn’t do it justice. I tried to call them about 10 minutes ago, but they didn’t answer the phone or enable messages. So here’s my review ... 😔 (These visits were through their drive through).

I was pleasantly surprised that it was even better than I had hoped. The service was fast and friendly and the food was really quite good for fast food seafood. The hush puppies were on point. The fried okra wasn't great, but I've never been a big fan. The fried fish and shrimp were spot on. My daughter tried the lemon pepper white fish on rice and it was sit-down restaurant quality. I mean, it's a fast food place, but it was good.

I love Captain D's. I love the food but here's the deal. They need to work on cleaning the place. The floors are always super greasy and as a person who has a significant other who is visually impaired it's very hard for people to get around on a very slippery floor. The manager is always wonderful. The staff are always very polite and willing to go above and beyond to make your visit Pleasant. Only thing I bad that I could say is that they need to work on cleaning the place.

The store was kinda busy, so we figured it was going to be good. Well, there was flies no sooner than we got inside, they were there. The wait was long, and not due to over customers. Still not welcomed, yet. There was only one person working the front and drive through. But, what made us turn back around (as did this other customer) was the fact the cooks, were both wiping sweat off there foreheads and keep on working. Gross...not eating there.
