Temptations

* I have to update my review. They generously sent me a $20 gift certificate to make up for my negative experience. I just hope that they do reconsider their two flavor policy even on a six scoop cone before my next visit, for hopefully a more welcoming and accommodating visit. Thank you. 🙂 Previous review - I ordered from the Temptations outside of the Grand Haven Waterfrot early July 2023. I ordered a jumbo waffle cone with six scoops, and was told I could not more than two flavors. I wanted four, and could have settled for three. They said they could not do more than two flavors due to a “store policy”, even though the size I purchased came with six scoops. This seems quite unaccomodating, on a $9.00 ice cream nonetheless. It was quite frustrating and disappointing. So I downgraded my cone to a super for $2 less and settled on two flavors. The blue moon was bland the night I went, but apparently it was a bad batch (that they said they promptly replaced), and I was sent a generous gift certificate which was much appreciated. I do hope they’ll reconsider their policy to allow one flavor per scoop if a customer desires.

This is a question for everyone who remembers when these 3 buildings had the rope hand rails, when getting ice cream and waiting for the trolley to go around town just to hear the bell ring, and wave at everyone. Even though the time has passed and the rope hand rails are gone, can we save these buildings and keep history for younger kids to come?? These are building that made grand haven to me in my youth!! Save the buildings!!! You saved the cat walk. And thank you for my childhood memories.

Just flat out awesome homemade ice cream! And there are 30+ flavors to try. Look, I can't tell you that this is the best ice cream in Grand Haven, or in Michigan, or whatever hyperbolic context would pique your interest, because I haven't tried them all. But I think that's the point - since being introduced to Temptations a couple years ago (they've apparently been around for 35 years, so I was a little late to the game, btw), when we're in Grand Haven and we want ice cream, we don't have to think about it; this is where we go. So I'll probably never know much about the competition. And if Temptations stays the same, I'll remain blissfully ignorant.
