We started off with crab cakes which were some of the best I’ve had. I had the chef’s special fish (redfish the day we were there) which came on a grits cake with sautéed baby spinach and a crawfish sauce which was fantastic. My wife had the hamburger steak and a loaded baked potato. Both dinners came with a side salad. I liked that the homemade dressings came on the side without asking. This was our first time there and it is definitely a go back to place.
We had Sunday Brunch here today and had a fabulous experience! Bottomless mimosas refreshed in very timely fashion by our awesome waitress, Paulette! Sampler appetizer platter of blackened catfish, crawfish, alligator and crab claws with perfectly crispy thin onion rings was to die for! Shrimp and grits for me, and the Benny for my husband, both wonderful! Paulette and the staff were terrific. We’ll definitely be back!!
Friendly employees, very good service, and enjoyable food. The several times we visited always turned out to be a good dining experience, except for the last one (8/24/18) when they ran out of their excellent stuffed crabs. They’ve also replaced the menu. It’s much simpler now, which is good, but they used to have the one where its history was printed on the back of the menu, which I think added to specialness of each visit, after you are made aware of the significance of what you see around you. Still, the ambiance is incomparable as they feature a portion of Louisiana’s history. It’s worth the trip for the authentic historical experience alone, but being able to enjoy some amazing Louisiana cooking makes it one unforgettable experience. Prepare to take photos! I love the stuffed crab meal with “dirty rice.”
this place is really nice. We got the time to talk to one of the business partners and he gave my family a little tour of the property. The land was originally a plantation and now it is used as a restaurant and a place where people can celebrate a wedding or anniversary in one of their private buildings
I remember coming here a lot as a kid! Hope to come back someday. Amazing food as I recall. First place I has chicken and sausage gumbo!
The food, the atmosphere, the service. The History. You are eating in history!! Please ask the staff about it. This place is one of a kind. Get the Pan Grilled Chicken with house made red beans and sweet cornbread. Don't forget the Buttermilk Pie. Eat and slip away to heaven. You won't be disappointed.
Cool, rustic spot with surprisingly wholesome Cajun dishes. Pretty quiet in a weeknight. Somewhat slow service and lack of understand of menu items, but worth the hassle.
Went searching for plantation tours and came upon this gem. I am a sucker for anything that says "World Famous" so I ordered the World Famous Chicken & Andouille Gumbo. It did not disappoint. Along with delicious food, the setting was really neat. The staff was super nice and attentive.
Love the atmosphere. Food was very good! A must visit when we are in town.
