As Native Texans this restaurant caught our eye and did not disappoint! Ernie’s is clean as a whistle and served delicious food. My son dared to say Ernie’s chili (which he got on a hot dog) is better than mine! We especially enjoyed the humorous signs on the wall and the photo displays showing us who’s who in the family. We will absolutely return on our next trip to Gettysburg!

Very good food. Friendly employees. We came for dinner and it was crowded. Nice home-town feel diner. The place had displays of the history of the family along the wall. It had the feel like you stepped back in time.

Service was fantastic. Food was ok as the chili dog reminded me of a little league dog. Coke tasted funny but the root beer was good. The fries are the good kind. It was warm and clean on the inside. They have been family owned and operated for 100 years!

I so wanted this to be great. Sadly it wasn't. Hot dog has a casing which needs a good grilling to get a good snap when you bite into it. They don't do that, they put the dogs on the rollers. It was busy, so they were under cooked. Very chewy. Buns weren't grilled or steamed. Straight out the bag. Fries were good which is why I give it 2 stars. Wait staff couldn't handle the crowd, and 1 of them just kept asking to call someone else in instead of just working. Disappointed and will not return.

What a find! Great lunch spot. My husband spotted them on the day they were closed and vowed to go back. He was not disappointed. Texas weiner was the bomb! and the best onion rings ever! Don't pass this place up!

Nothing special other than the atmosphere and the fries. The hot dog wasn’t even as big as a ball park frank. Buns were supermarket off the shelf and pretty much everything was generic one of my family called it “Cute”. I respect a family owned business but I can not recommend this place.

Food was really good. Staff was nice. They were a little busy and flustered but still pretty friendly and helpful.

This was a delightful experience! Love the humor and cozy, home town feel of the place. We came here in early october and were served in less than ten minutes. The food was delicious, crispy hot chilli cheese fries and perfectly cooked burgers. (I took a bite out of mine before I remembered the picture. Sorry!)
