We sat near the bar and Zach the bartender took care of us . Extremely knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. Excellent service and the food was on point. We come up once a year and you never disappoint! See you next year!
We had a party of 8 and Nicole while training Jess was still on there game and did a amazing job. Good Job! We loved it.
This is a very nice place. That being said, our experience was not as good as we would have liked. I made a reservation a week ahead of time. When we got there, there was no reservation. Fortunately they were able to seat us. I believe there was a large group in another area. We were told the kitchen was a little backed up. Understandable. We both ordered the steak cooked the same way. Unfortunately we got our steaks cooked completely different. I would go back perhaps at a quieter time.

Stopped here at 1pm, had the place to ourselves! Very elegant carefully plated dishes. Atmosphere is still very casual. Crab lunch entree cake was great. We loved the solitude but they deserve more traffic from non-hotel patrons. Service was so polite.
During our 2 night stay, we decided to try the restaurant. I was hesitant because in my experience, hotel restaurant food is usually limited menu, overpriced and mediocre quality at best. BUT my husband and I both had the 8oz Filet and they were cooked to perfection and FULL of flavor! The asparagus and carrots grilled beautifully and the mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious. Well worth the money, I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food and drinks. The staff was great it was great having a place like this right in our hotel. Menu had something for everyone came out quick and delicious. Drinks were reasonably priced as was the food.
very, very good. wide range of food and very good service for large parties.
Great wait staff! Had breakfast buffet, which was tasty.
Most importantly, the food at this restaurant is fabulous. Interesting and imaginative menu without being pretentious and always delicious. Nice bar with daily happy hour to start the evening is a fun option. On the downside, they've decided to eliminate tablecloths and installed new tables and chairs which don't really match the decor - very casual furnishings in an architecturally magnificent room. One of the reasons we liked 1863 was the elegant, 'fancy dinner' atmosphere that comes with white tablecloth service. I know it seems petty to mention this in a review, but there's something to be said about being served in a traditional, formal manner.
I have eaten here with my family on many occasions and have always been impressed with not only the food but the service as well. I highly recommend coming for holiday times at Easter, Mothers Day and Christmas. The menu changes regularly and they have great craft cocktails as well. The “Cable Car” is one of my favorites. The Gettysburg dining scene has become very competitive in the last ten years and the 1863 is certainly holding its own as one of the top dining destinations in Gettysburg!
