There was a waiting list because I visited on Friday night, but it didn’t take too long to get in. Even if it took longer, it would have been still worth it. One of my coworkers recommended this place and it was the best kbbq I’ve ever had in the US. The quality of the meat was really fresh and the staffs cooked for my group non-stop. Banchans were mainly pickles but paired really well with the meats. I will definitely come back here!
Pleasantly surprised! Great service, great food. It's one of the best Korean pork BBQ spot we have been! Will visit again soon!
We made another visit, and we were even more satisfied with the service and the food!
The meat quality, the side dishes, the service,..they were all great. I actually did not have to wait too long to get seated. I chose combo B which was more than enough for 2 people. I love the pork shoulder the most. The combined cheese and mushroom also went really well with the meat. Also, their onion kimchi is on point, so so yummy. The staff are nice and kind that they took care of the meat from the beginning to end.
So clean and delicious 😋
It reminds me of Korea.
All these sauces match very well with the meat and enrich the taste of Korean BBQ.
This restaurant surely is one of the best K-BBQ in Orange County.
Sookdal is one of the best kbbq spots for Pork Belly. This has got to be the closest to Korea I have had so far in OC. 5/5 spot forsure
There was a line when we got there but we still got in relatively quickly.
Great, yummy, quality pork. All the side dishes were really good too. Had a question about the meat and realized that not all the servers are fluent in English but that's not a problem. One of them was even able to smile through our meal while serving us and cooking for us which was impressive.
But the music was super loud and we got "don't linger, get out after you're done eating" vibes even though there wasn't a line and it wasn't that busy anymore.
But overall, would come again.
We ordered the combo that has pork belly + brisket. They do have amazingly quality of pork belly. Top notch. And even their kimchi soup that comes along w the combo is beyond what I’ve had from any other kbbq place. But two things to point out here are… music is freaking LOUD. Way tooooo loud. And second, since they want to create this premium style of dining (and even giving you a piece of note about their “wet age pork belly spec”), they probably can replace brisket with something slightly better in this combo.
Amazing quality, staff are very kind and professionally treats customers. And over all, many different kinds of pickles goes very well with the meat. Strongly recommend this place for korean bbq.
First thing I noticed from this place was the presentation of the meats you ordered is simply beautiful. This place is famous for its wet aged pork belly and being given the small tag with all the specs of how it was stored and aged brought the nerdy joy out of me. They totally didn't need to do this, but it showed how much they cared about their product which showed in the final product.
I ordered the combo B which included: pork belly, skirt steak, and pork neck.
Starting with the best first, the wet aged pork belly. The waiters and waitresses there make sure to cook the meats to perfection for you. Within 1 minute, I had 3 people come by to make sure the pork belly was getting cooked perfectly. The pork belly had an very clean flavor to it. I had no hint of the off putting pork taste you get at lower end restaurants. At the same time as the pork belly was being cooked, they added pineapple, oyster mushroom and the grilled cheese. All these complimented the pork belly so well. Also along with these grilled items the banchan to accompany the meats were all perfect to eat with these meats. Most of the banchan were pickled and worked well to cut the fattiness of the pork. Also that melted grilled cheese was one of the best things to eat with this pork belly. This is how meat and cheese is supposed to be together.
Next the skirt steak had a firm texture and reminded me of grilled tongue. I did not expect this to be as tasty as it was. The pork neck was the last thing to be grilled and had a very nice contrast in texture compared the the other two meats. It was crunchy yet melted in your mouth. Thought it was a bit fatty, so I wish this was introduced at the beginning or the middle of the meal. It was a bit overwhelming by the end of the meal.
Lastly the kimchi stew was a nice addition to the meal. The stew was a good way to take a break from all the fatty meats. Even with the pork inside the stew, it didn't feel like a heavy soup. I really appreciate this was added to the combo.
Overall this is a must try spot. Everything here was top quality, from the food to the service. If you love pork, make sure to come here and give them a try. It's one of the top korean bbq places in the OC for me.
