The lady behind the counter Told me that they only had pork in tamales spicy or mild. I told her that I would have one each. She proceeded to give me one dozen each! If she had told me it was a dozen
I wouldn't have ordered it and I would have missed the best tamales I've had in 30 years! They do Offer chicken and beef by special orders, paid in advance.
The bakery goods were very good, but not better than some I've had on the island.

I shop here every time I come to Galveston. The capirotada (sp?) Bread pudding is heaven in your hand. I don't like all the complaints about rudeness. I've had nice conversations with the owner. Some people are cranky.

Growing up my mom would always order tamales from Texas Star for Christmas eve. I remember them always being so good.
It had probably been 15 years when we were on the island today and decided to stop by and see if we could get some tamales. We ordered a dozen and I was excited to try them again.
We took the super long way home to Baytown and road the ferry over to Bolivar. The tamales were still hot over 2.5 hours later when we got home. They were also just as delicious as I had hoped they still would be. The masa was so moist and flavorful and the pork was tender and tasty. Def my favorite tamales and will have to go back every now and then to get more.

Best tamales I’ve found on the island. I’m sure the bakery items are very good but I don’t particularly care for Mexican pastries. I’ve tried many over the years from numerous cities. (Where’s the sugar??) Beautiful to look at while you’re waiting for your tamales though. Regular or spicy, you can’t go wrong!

The banana cream, coconut cream, chocolate and apple pies, baked to order are absolutely fabulous. The lady that I placed my order with was so kind and helpful. The order was ready on time. The smell of the freshly cooking tamales was magnificent. A must visit.

Awesome Panderia. This place is so great, I have tried alot of the panderias that are opening around Houston, and this is the best by far. Galveston has a hidden treasure. The pink cake and ginger piggies are wonderful. If you are on the island for a weekend or business meeting, stop by this place and grab some treats at a very reasonable price you won't be sorry.
