The place was not busy for lunch. The raw oysters were fresh, the shrimp po boy with the fried okra was amazing. The gator bites were good, some were chewy but overall not bad. The seafood gumbo needed a little more seasoning but it was filling. Our server was very attentive and our needs were met at our table without being asked. It was very filling. Our family of 4 needed to take a walk on strand to digest our meal.
Edit: their online prices do not reflect actual prices. Maybe an oversight, but it needs to be corrected.
Ordered raw oysters, fried mushrooms, fries, gator bites, and a cup of red beans and rice. The oysters were good. The mushrooms were big and a big portion. They were good but needed a bit of seasoning. The fries were cooked well and really liked them. The gator bites were very tender and, again, big portion. The red beans and rice were very good. I would have preferred a little kick to them. The place was clean, the service was great and friendly. Jr was very attentive and ready to answer any questions. I would definitely come back.
A friend and I went to grab some lunch here after being at the beach for 3 hours. I will have to say it was not disappointing at all. The food and service was amazing. When the food came out the serving sizes were huge. My favorite were the boudin ball and the fried mushrooms. But everything was delicious!!!
In town on Summer vacation. A friend that is local to Galveston recommended this place. Small, quaint place. Super fast service.
The food was awesome to say the least. We had some oysters on the half shell, shared a cup (bowl) of seafood gumbo, and then had our main courses. The wife had the crawfish etouffee. She absolutely loved it. I had the bounty mix. It was blackened shrimp, crawfish, oysters, calamari, and crab. WOW.
Portions were VERY generous. Our “cup” of gumbo was a good sized soup bowl.
The girls both got the shrimp po’ boys. They had to eat about twenty shrimp before they could even think of trying to close the bread and eat it as a sandwich.
Great food. Great staff. Fun place that I highly recommend.
I love the food.
My wife just came in to ask some questions but we saw how the food looked and we decided to stay.
The waitress (sorry I forgot her name)was amazing with an awesome recommendation and knowing the plates and ingredients, she took care of our food restrictions and at the same time recommended me one of the best fish I ever ate ( I love fish). The flounder fish stuffed with the crab cakes was on another level the waitress warned me about the size of the plate but I took my chances and I won the battle between me and the fish 😂
My wife asked for the ceviche and it was really good. Definitely recommend and a return restaurant for me so for the restaurant Thanks for a really good experience and for you guys just go.
Some of the BEST oysters in Galveston! The founder is delicious too! The service is always phenomenal, this time we surpluses our daughter for her birthday, they made her a virgin fruity cocktail, and did cake with a candle. Worth the trip!
We were recommended by Black Pearl from a local who works at a comic book shop. She was amazing at her recommendations. So happy we came here. The oyster poboy was amazingly delicious and plentiful. I recommend it with the Cole slaw as you can add it on your sandwich. Another person in our party got the chicken fingers with the homemade honey mustard. Delicious! The onion rings were also fantastic!
The service was great. Very friendly and very helpful. One of my kids had not had a lot of seafood and our wait-staff talked them through and made a very good suggestion.
The oysters were superb! The seafood gumbo was good, and the chicken sandwich was the size of my daughters head.
The atmosphere (at 2 in the afternoon) was relaxed, very low-key, like... jeans and t-shirt may stick out as "chic".
The best shrimp poboy. Great fried okra and husband says onion rings are fantastic. More than we could eat.
After an evening at a local spa we walked down market st. looking for a bite and ran into this place. I glanced at the reviews and knew not to pass this up! Just like everyone else says, the oysters were really fresh. The fish tacos were fresh and full of flavor. We got the boudin balls because my wife never experienced boudin and she was blown away by the flavor! The portions are definitely on the bigger side and the last item we got was chocolate cake that we split. Our waiter was a super nice guy named Rob and it was almost closing but they were happy to have us and gave us a great dinner experience for me and my wife. All in all, this place goes into my short list of go to restaurants and contributes to me keeping Galveston as a future destination. Long live the strand! Also, I like the memorable name and how casual it is. Will definitely return!
