It's a cute little shop. The ice cream is really good. I personally don't think they had a wide assortment of candy. There are definitely more baked goods like fudge than there is candy. They have a small popcorn station and I coffee bar. I'll have to try those next time I'm on the island.

This is a must see and experience in Galveston. This little shop offers assistance to visitors with handicaps with an evaluation after you get inside. However there is no assistance outside to get inside. There is seating offered to enjoy any of the beverage, ice cream, or sweet treat selections they have to offer. The team members are extremely friendly and very good at staying attentive to visitors. There are purchase stations located throughout the store.
The selection of treats and drinks is incredible. Fudge, soft candles, chocolates, old fashion sodas, and so much more. There is a selection of sweets for anyone even sugar free and gluten free choices. This was the best shop in Galveston.

I heard about La King's Confectionery while searching for places to check out in Galveston and The Strand. The shop is definitely a nod to times gone past as there are not many places left around that are like this anymore. La King's still serves ol' time sode floats the way they originally did way back in the day, by spooning out the syrup and mixing it with the soda water. I chose a root beer float and it was very nice and refreshing after strolling around the Strand for a while. There's every kind of candy and chocolate imaginable in La King's Confectionery. If you're looking for a nostalgic experience, stop by and enjoy some of their wonderful goods.

Great place to get all your sweet needs. The whole family can get something. They have a little seating area. Plenty of room to move around if crowded.

Was recommended this place by a Railroad Museum employee (which we also highly recommend) and we were not disappointed.
Ice cream tastes like a slightly sweeter and more creamy Blue Bell - firm but not rock solid to where you break your plastic spoon. A scoop is closer to a pint in size - very generous with portions.
Other reviews mention the pay-to-park - which would normally be an immediate skip for me - but we walked over from the railroad museum so it was a great way to cool down during our excursion.
It was pretty crowded when we went, but tolerable.

Love that they provide a big scoop (enough for two!) for one! Not only can you get ice cream at this top but there are refreshments and assortments of toffee/chocolate/candies in this building!

Absolute Fun! Taffy, Chocolate, Ice Cream, Coffee... 🍦
...Fudges, packaged candies, and basically all the treats you can think of! 🍫
It's only pricey if you buy a ton, just get a little baggie for walking The Strand; and you'll be just fine. ☺️

YUMMY ICE CREAM!!! Do not eat the blue bell ice cream nearby, but instead, eat at this old fashioned ice cream parlor!! Best flavor has got to be the Banana Walnut. I’ve tried the Cookie Dough and the French Vanilla, but they taste plain when being compared to the Banana Walnut flavor. If you love bananas and walnuts like I do, or anything generally delicious, you have to get the Banana Walnut! At first, I was like, $5 for one scoop is kind of a lot! But don’t be fooled! The scoop is humungous. I couldn’t finish it on my own haha. Yet, it’s so worth it! Absolutely perfect for a hot day.

was in Galveston with my fiancé, 2 girlfriends, and one kid. We stumbled upon La Kings, and decided to get some ice cream. We were greeted by an employee named Torryan, where he served a single scoop of ice cream on a cone. He let us try 2 flavors and recommended the popular item which was butter pecan! Overall, he was very attentive! Cute store inside. Limited space to sit! We will be back! Enjoy our experience and friendly waitstaff!

We really love this place. Anytime we are near Galveston, we always stop by. I usually get a vanilla shake and a homemade lemonade. My wife got ice cream this time. We will get candy and chocolate and take some back for the kids. I have been going to this place since probably the late 70s or early 80s when I was in high school. I have taken my kids and now my grandkids. They all enjoy the wide variety of snacks to get.
