Truly my favorite sushi spot in the area. Coming from a port city; I was looking for a place to meet my standards of fish and this place had the freshest ingredients amongst all I tried. The staff is attentive and so nice, very accommodating to ingredient requests. Make sure to look at the day of the week, though! They are closed on a particular weekday. Lots of parking available in the plaza.
Very good sushi rolls and the fish tasted fresh. I appreciate that not many of the sushi rolls have cream cheese. Their yaki udon was also cooked well with a nice balance of flavors, noodles still springy. Service was fast and friendly. Prices were reasonable for Gainesville. Looking forward to trying some of their sashimi in the near future!
Edit: Got the sashimi and sushi for 2. The fish didn't taste as fresh this time.
Great place great food! Decent service. The only down fall is the communication barrier. Their English is sketchy at best. Still if you want good quality Sushi, fresh with generous portions. This is the place. My family and I eat here at least once a month. The fish is always chilled and has a good level of fat , and nice texture. I am very picky. Especially when eating raw foods. The get my Sushi business every time. Several other places to eat Sushi, most of them over priced, over rated, with smaller portions. I don't like over paying for rice and seaweed . Kudos to the crew at Mahzu.
Undeniably the best sushi in Gainesville. Always delicious and consistent and very reasonably priced. Service is friendly and quick and they are great for takeout too. The dining area may need a bit of a makeover but it is at least clean and organized. Love this place so, so much!
I love this place! Great sushi. Great people working there! Always delicious. One of my all time favorite places for my favorite meal. This was my Birthday Dinner with my Daughter.
My favorite restaurant in Gainesville! The owners and staff are absolutely the best! I used to go there about every other day and the staff had my order memorized. They are so good at their jobs that a few weeks after I moved away after college they called me to make sure I was alive after they didn't see me for so long. Great place. I recommend it to anyone going to Gainesville!
This is a surprisingly good place considering it sits at the far edge of Gainesville. I've been here a few times and they have never disappointed. They probably don't serve the most authentic Japanese style sushi out there. But everything I have tried has been fresh and delicious and affordable. There is a wide variety of choices available. So pick one according to your taste and enjoy. Also, they have crispy tempuras and killer sauces.
