Kimberly and Jen from Simply Desserts did an incredible job on my wedding cake and dessert table for my January 23 wedding. Yep, we got married right in the middle of Winter Storm Jonas, which dumped multiple feet of snow on the Washington DC area. But Simply Desserts scrambled to prep all of my desserts early and deliver them to the venue the day before to ensure that we'd be able to snack on their deliciousness without fail!
My cake turned out absolutely beautiful - I was very specific in the type of design that I wanted, as well as wanted to incorporate special Harry Potter touches, and they delivered on every front. It was a small three-tiered almond cake with caramel cream cheese filling and smooth, creamy buttercream frosting on top. It was decorated with gold fondant confetti on the top two tears and buttercream rosettes on the bottom, with a Golden Snitch on the bottom layer as well! Just as I envisioned, and so gorgeously executed.
My guests couldn't stop complimenting the taste of the cake as well - the cake itself was moist but delicate, sweet but not TOO sweet, and just so very enjoyable. I also ordered cake pops, mini cheesecakes, and panna cottas from Simply Desserts for the dessert bar, and they were all delicious! Their cake pops are huge (and they decorated some of them with chocolate wings for more Golden Snitches!) , the mini cheesecakes are so yummy, and the panna cottas were delicious and beautifully presented. The tasting was also a really enjoyable experience, fully allowing us to mix-and-match flavors of cake and fillings until we came up with the perfect combination. I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out, and would heartily recommend them to any bride (or for any special occasion!)
Simply Desserts did our wedding cake nearly two years ago which turned out perfectly. Kim & Jen helped us through everything so that we had absolutely no worries. For us, there is no other bakery we will go to for our any of our future events. I was recently asked to recommend a good wedding cake shop and it was a no brainer, simply desserts.
Hi! I got married on September 4th 2022 and let me tell you this cake was DELICIOUS!! Me and my husband were super nervous about finding a good bakery since we both don’t like very sweet things. As soon as we tried the samples from Simply Desserts we knew we wanted to hire them, they’re very responsible, professional, they answered every question we had or changes we wanted to make to our order and it was fabulous! Our experience with Simply Desserts was wonderful overall. Everybody at our wedding commented on how good the cake was Kimberly is very attentive and helpful. We completely loved everything from the service to the cake!
We ordered decorated sugar cookies for my baby shower. We couldn't be happier with how they turned out. Absolutely stunning and very very yummy. Will definitely use Simply Desserts for future events!
We used Simply Desserts for our wedding in September and owner, Kimberly, was so great to work with! I did not want to have a wedding cake, I preferred to have a dessert table. She recommended the dessert tasting box to help us decide which flavors and what items we wanted to have. We chose the ganache brownies, mini cheesecakes, 2 flavors of cupcakes, and 2 flavors of the dessert shooters. You must try the green tea cake with matcha frosting, it is to die for!!!!!
I never make an effort to write reviews but I wanted to make sure that I write this one because it deserves it. For our daughter 2nd birthday, we ordered a safari birthday cake and customized flavor (pistachio and orange) cupcakes that were absolutely delicious. YOU MUST TRY. Everyone at the party really enjoyed them. When I spoke to Ocean, I emphasized the importance of the flavors and the perfect blend of not too sweet but yummy as well as keeping the cake nice and moist. And she did exactly that! We will definitely go back for every occasion. Thank you!!!
Great gluten free cake! Ocean was responsive and helped us get the wedding cake we wanted! She was great about decorating it to fit our theme, too. We highly recommend Simply Desserts!
Ocean is a dream to work with and our guests raved about the cake! We needed a vegan cake for our daughter's wedding. We got the tasting box and decided on almond for our top layer and chocolate for our bottom layer. I don't like cake frosting (it's always too sweet) so I asked Ocean if she could make a vegan Swiss buttercream (less sweet than American buttercream). She happily looked for and tested a new recipe. Then I asked if she would be willing to make a huckleberry filling since my daughter and her husband first met ar Glacier National Park and huckleberries grow wild there. Ocean, again, happily said she would give it a try.
Then I asked her if she could make and decorate hiking boot cookies and bison cookies as guest favors. AGAIN, she happily replied she could.
The results? Cake flavors that our guests raved about, and cookies that were so beautiful we didn't want to eat them!

ordered a cake for my best friend’s birthday and Simply Desserts did NOT disappoint- I had a picture of what I wanted and you would’ve thought they 3D printed a replica in that bakery, my word! Of course it also turned out delicious, could not recommend this place enough!
Simply Desserts was simply the best. The cake tasted great and looked beautiful. The team was so helpful with all our questions, very responsive, and easy to work with. They were also very accommodating when we had to change our wedding date. We tried a lot of cake and they were hands down our favorite. Would recommend to any couple looking for a great wedding cake.
Looking for someone to trust with your custom cake order?Look no further. Kimberly and her staff are incredibly talented and kind. I requested a cake about two weeks ago (which is short notice in the cake industry) but the staff at Simply Dessert were able to accommodate me and my request for a Buffalo Bills cake for my good friends birthday. I provided them a picture of what I was expecting and they knocked it out of the park. Not only do they make cool designs but the actual taste of the cake itself, let me tell you, incredible. We ordered a strawberry with vanilla cream cheese filling. The cake was so soft, moist and tasty. The prices are reasonable for what we asked for. I couldn’t have asked for or imagined an even better cake. I will definitely be purchasing a cake again soon from Simply Desserts.
Simply desserts exceeded our expectations! Kimberly did a wonderful job communicating with us through email and having the cake delivered to our wedding venue exactly when we needed it! I sent her a design of the exact cake style we wanted it and she replicated it perfectly! We highly recommend simply desserts for any wedding or celebratory event!
