Loved the atmosphere and everyone who worked here who we interacted with was *lovely* af. We got the baked lobster and the baked seafood medley and both were great. I loved the lobster, it was perfectly cooked and the scallops were excellent. I’m not sure I’d get the baked lobster again though because the stuffing in some ways distracted from the exceptional quality of the lobster itself. Fantastic though and glad I tried it! Side potatoes were great but broccoli was over cooked. The portion size for the Baked Seafood Medley was a bit on the small size!
Had a very good lunch at Jameson Tavern. We got seated quickly. The staff was attentive and friendly. The food was good. I had the crab melt and we shared a lobster cocktail. Although none of us ordered it, we loved that they had a “lazy lobster” on the menu where they take all the meat out for you!
Wonderful seafood!. We had the scallops appetizer, which was delicious very tender and perfectly cooked. (Note the empty plate!) A great deal actually as you get a lot for an appetizer. Then the haddock platter and sandwich were both perfect. Tender, fresh and very tasty. Even the coleslaw was very fresh and crunchy. We sat outside on such a beautiful day. Highly recommend
Crab dip- loved the chunks of crab it was amazing
The Maine Trifecta- wish it was warm, shrimp was a little more chewy than liked but over all good and filling.
Crab Melt- great flavor and paired well with the coleslaw!
Drinks were mediocre.
Absolutely amazing experience. Hands down the best food, service, atmosphere we have ever experienced at any restaurant. KK and the rest of the staff were fun, prompt, and really made the atmosphere great. Hats off to the chef(s) who made a Mederterainian chicken unlike any we've ever had, and muscles that were knock your sucks off delicious! We live 2 hours away, but we will be back! Keep up the good work!
Lovely restaurant, great food and friendly staff rolled into one. Choose between indoor or outdoor dining. Huge menu selection. Start with the lobster cocktail❤️👍🏽 Has free parking. Enjoy the food/drinks here before or after you shop at LLbean next door😉
My wife and I stopped for a lunch here during the Freeport Fall Festival. We love history, old buildings and definitely great food. This establishment excelled in all three with the addition of…excellent service! We sat at the bar and we were heartily greeted by K.K. (or is it KayKay 🤷🏻♂️). What an absolutely delightful bartender, server, conversationalist and skilled worker. She keeps it personal asking our names, remembers them, checks with us regularly, and added in some fresh bread to soak up mussels broth. The food was outstanding! We had clam chowder, a special blackened swordfish salad, and mussels.
Please go to this restaurant and have a seat at the bar. You will see 😊
This historical location is called "the birthplace of Maine," so it was a must-visit for me as I explore my family's roots in Colonial America. It was an excellent decision. The atmosphere was homey and welcoming, our waitress was friendly and warm, and the FOOD.
My husband and I ordered the king prime rib, and you cannot tell me that those portions we received were only 14oz. They were 18oz, easy. And they were tender, flavorful, and swimming in delicious au jus. Because I am allergic to potatoes, I ordered the sweet potato fries, which I have learned to... reluctantly enjoy. The sweet potato fries at Jameson Tavern were simply PERFECT. No reluctance in my enjoyment. The best fries I've had in a long time, even without the "sweet potato" qualifier. I cannot be effusive enough about these fries!
Come for the history, stay for the prime rib and fries. And come back for more fries.
