Hands down the best Jamaican food I’ve had in Maryland! I always judge a Jamaican restaurant by how well they make their rice and peas as well as their portion sizes. This restaurant did not disappoint! The rice and peas was well seasoned and not mushy. Love the type of rice grain used! Also, they’re definitely not skimpy on the portions. I got my money’s worth. Keep it up, Jerk N’ Jive! You are a gem in Maryland.
Had been dying to try this place out after seeing a few ads on Facebook and finally made it out--it did not disappoint! Went with the 1/4 dark jerk chicken and it was as flavorful and authentic as the chicken I had at a roadside stand in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. As good as the chicken was, the star, for me, were the collard greens, which are pure bliss and better than any I've had at even the best Southern restaurants. If you are looking for fantastic Caribbean cooking, give them a shot! You won't be disappointed.
Great food had to try it out after discovering there was a new Caribbean place, portions were a bit small but definitely packed with flavor... hopefully they have chicken roti later on the future
Everything we ordered was fantastic! We tried the jerk chicken, coconut shrimp, beef & chicken paddies. For sides we definitely recommend fried plantains, sweet potatoes, collards, and the rice and peas.
A very clean, organized and pleasant environment to be in. The staff was extremely polite and easy to talk too. I choose to eat there and notice a very diverse clientail. The food is really amazing! I had the Jerk chicken, peas n rice, sweet potatoes and greens while washing it down with a cream soda. That was my last meal for the day as it would have been disrespectful to consume something else that day. Lol.. I recommend this spot over ALL restaurants in Frederick! I’ll see you weekly...

My daughter and son-in-law highly recommended Jerk N Jive, so my husband and I decided to stop in for dinner last night. We didn't realize they closed at 8p..it was 7:45! James could not have been more welcoming and no concerns about the time. We ordered: Jerk Salmon and Coconut Shrimp with amazing sides of callaloo (Caribbean Spinach), Plantains (amazing), rice and beans, mac and cheese! The food was amazing and we were able to sit and enjoy without worrying about closing time. We met "Mayor" from the kitchen who was a delight as well. Go!! The food is amazing...James wife, Mary, is the chef (educated at Johnson and Wales/CT) with lots of creative twists on Caribbean food!! Can't wait to go back!!!
My new favorite place for jerk chicken and other Caribbean food! Mac and cheese is awesome too.
Great place, great food!! Danielle and James take lots of time explaining everything, they'll even adjust spice levels, and of course being able to have little tastes of dishes you're not familiar with is a real treat.

Curry chicken is amazing! The quarter and half size chicken portions are crazy huge! Great price with rice & beans plus 2 sides! Definitely check it out.
This is without a doubt some of the best food I’ve ever had. I love Jamaican food so I always try restaurants around the area and this one is my fave between MD, VA and WV. The greens make me never wanna eat regular food again!! Haha SOOOO yummy!! Both gentleman working were sweet as can be. The portions are quite large and the food is made quickly and hot. Packaged well. Definitely recommend!!
Amazing! I was looking for a black owned business to support & a friend in the area recommended Jerk & Jive East location since we were going to be grabbing it to go. I called ahead, received great customer service (Zion I believe answered the phone) The order was ready when we got there I was able to pay quickly. Each meal was individually cling wrapped so none of the juices leaked. It was flavorful & I'd go back often if I lived near by.

This location is my favorite place to eat. This visit I had the spicy jerk chicken sandwich, collard greens, mac and cheese, and a spicy beef patty. And the obligatory rice and beans with curry gravy. The chicken is always marinated to perfection, tender and juicy. Sauce is amazing. Mac and cheese is always homemade and delicious. The crust on the patties are flaky yet firm. I've never had a bad thing at Jerk and Jive. The curried goat is probably my most ordered dish. The owner is always welcoming, friendly, and courteous. He loves what he does, and it shows. Their alternative location is a very different atmosphere, but food still holds up
Been 6 weeks since we had good Caribbean food in Miami. This place was so good. We got curry chicken, brown stew, rice and peas, collard greens, plantains, and curry chicken patties. Everything was delicious and fresh. Wish we could bring the whole store home with us to Miami. Yummy!
Today I ordered lunch from work for me and a friend. The delivery was fast but to find out they didn't bring my rice and peas nor my machine n cheese. I was so disappointed and called to let them know. The lady(I didn't get her name)who answered apologized all over her self and even for the employee who made the mistake. She offered to bring me the missing items and then offered me a whole dinner. She personally delivered me a curry chicken meal again in a very timely manner. I appreciate customer service like this and will be ordering again in the future!! Thank you miss for making it right and for your sincere apologies!!
First time trying this place and I'm glad I did. I ordered the goat dinner portion with white rice, which comes with 2 sides. Collard greens and veggies. Also ordered mild beef and curry chicken patties. The food was tasty and delicious. If you in the area, definitely recommend swinging by this place, won't be disappointed. 😊😋
This place exceeded our expectations!!! Everything was so delicious and presented beautifully. If you're craving something new you should definitely try here. The staff was extremely friendly too! Frederick is lucky to have such a unique and fun place to eat!
