We had a lovely early dinner at The Tasting Room. We were politely greeted and seated. One minor issue was that there was a cold breeze coming from a gap or something in the window. Otherwise the table was fine. The bread is tasty, if a bit uninspired. We like the crustyness outside and a softer texture inside. It is nice, but not amazing. For a starter we shared the Oy Vey, which is a chicken liver mousse with a duck fat top sprinkled with flaked salt, apple compote, and crostinis. The size was great for two to share. I am thought it was good, but I prefer their Foie Gras. My companion loved it, and he's more if a liver lover. The serving was ample, and they really needed more than 4 little crostinis. My companion got a Caesar side salad which tasted great, but was not well garnished. It had 1 anchovy, maybe 1/4 egg, and 2 croutons. For dinner I had the special, which was shrimp over pasta in a lobster sauce with truffles. It was FANTASTIC. Really well balanced, not too rich, just perfect. With this amazing dish, I can forgive anything else! My companion had a lovely Filet Oscar, perfectly cooked rare. The filet truly melted in your mouth, and the crab topping was a great compliment to the steak. I thought the potatos au gratin were good and I disliked the sauce that came with them. My companion loved the potatos and the sauce. We split the carrot cake and we both enjoyed it. It was light and moist, and not too sweet. The service was polite and prompt. At one point, my napkin fell on the floor. A server who wasn't ours walked by, picked it up, and brought me a new one on his own initiative. He didn't even say anything, he just did it. Overall the meal, service, and atmosphere were great. We'll be back!

We love TR. It’s our favorite Frederick restaurant, and our restaurant of choice to mark special occasions. Service and food are always top notch. We shared a bowl of the lobster chowder, which the waiter/kitchen kindly split for us. The lobster chowder is a little bit of heaven, and it’s made to order. The crab cakes with au gratin potatoes and house salad were all perfection., and my date enjoyed the salmon. We can’t wait to return for another stellar evening!

This downtown Frederick icon is one of our favorites! We have been to the Tasting Room many times over the years, and in spite of changing ownership a few years ago, it has maintained its high standards of excellent menu choices, beautifully presented and delicious food, and excellent service. We enjoy going here for long, romantic dinners. Even when it is busy, the ambiance is soft and relaxing. They always have great bar drinks, and a good selection of liquors, as well as a great wine list. Be sure to try their amazing and decadent lobster bisque (my favorite anywhere!), and their lobster mashed potatoes. Also, their jumbo lump crab cakes are probably the best that you will ever eat in Maryland or anywhere else. We also enjoy just stopping off here for lunch, or for a few drinks and snacks at the bar. It is a really popular place, for good reason, so be sure to make a reservation, if you want to be seated at a table. Bar seating is open, but it stays pretty busy, so later in the evening or on weekends, you may have to wait a bit. Be sure to check this off your list if you visit Frederick, or try it out a few times when you are in the downtown area. You won’t be disappointed!!

Visited The Tasting Room for the first time last night and had an amazing experience. For a Tuesday it was busy, so I would definitely recommend making a reservation. The service was wonderful from start to finish. The drink menu is extensive, which includes some creative and quite delicious options - highly recommend "Green with Envy" and the "Black Martini." The dinner menu is slightly limited, but still offers something for every palate. The food is thoughtfully prepared and artistically plated with fresh and exciting ingredients. The portions are on the smaller side which leaves plenty of room to make it to dessert - do yourself a flavor and stick around for tiramisu or the rhubarb cheesecake! The only slight downfall was the restaurant is very loud making it difficult to hold a conversation, i might recommend outdoor seating if this would be a problem for you. Will definitely be coming back for more.

The food was great and the waiter was so sweet. The bar tender was also so sweet. The experience overall was a great one. I had the lobster bisque and the lobster omelette. I went for brunch. It is a little pricey, but I promise it is worth it. Even the salad was great.

This is our favorite restaurant! We’ve ate their 3 times and each time has been phenomenal. Try the lobster corn chowder, it’s so velvety smooth and delicious. Wine flights are my favorite too. I live about an hour and a half away and have traveled just to eat here. Atmosphere is upscale and modern, my recommendation is to always make reservations though if you plan to eat here because it can get very busy- for good reason. Definitely will be back again soon!

Amazing! The waiter was attentive and friendly. The homemade bread they put on the table alone was fantastic (we even asked to purchase it out right). We got the fish & chips and the Korean Fried Chicken sandwich. Food looked really good and was mouth watering. Best fish & chips I have ever had. Honestly you will be so happy you stopped by.

If I could give 10 stars, I would. From start to finish, this is the best restaurant we’ve been to, second only to the 95th floor of the Hancock building in Chicago. Service was 100%. Food, 100%. Drinks — 100%.

Excellent service all around. I'm extremely picky about my drinks and they were perfect. The atmosphere is very romantic without being stuffy. And the food is AMAZING. Our favorite spot to eat since we moved to Maryland 2 years ago! Also, just a quick thank you to the bartenders and servers. They were very busy and short staffed and worked their butts off to accommodate the guests (10 stars for all of the servers).

Had the crab dip as an appetizer and the filet mignon. Crab dip was good.. although perhaps more cheese than crab. Steak was good too. I liked that the outside was a little crispy while the inside was tender. I had mine medium. At $65 for a 10oz steak though, they didn't entirely knock it out of the park for me. The amaretto sour, however, was wonderful. Just the perfect mix frothy and delicious. For the level of restaurant, it would have been nice to have a certain level of dress code required.. just to bump up the ambiance.
