Review Richard's Brick Oven Pizza - Franklin

This place is amazing! They are wonderful. They helped soooo many people during the pandemic. They made a customer out of me for life. I feel blessed to have such a wonderful business in my community. I will support them as much as humanly possible. Thank you

Pizza is good. Owner is rude and unprofessional. My friends and I (who have come there other times before) were together for the first time after something had happened in our family. We were sitting outside and were then publicly shamed by the owner and musician for being loud. We all decided that we would have appreciated the respect to be talked to individually about being too loud before being called out in front of the entire outdoor tables. The waitress never said anything to us. It was hurtful and we will not be returning. Wish people were nicer.

I love a good brick oven pizza, and this place sure does deliver on a delicious pizza. The spinach and artichoke dip with flat bread was a great way to start the meal. The staff is attentive and the Margarita was potent. We will return again.

Richards is a cool Brick Oven Pizza joint that provides tasty pizza and other Italian and American dishes. Great drinks from the bar. They play classic rock music as well. They have outdoor dining patio that is covered by shade trees. A must Go to Place!

The place wasn't as upscale as I expected from looking at the website. The atmosphere is quite relaxed and informal. It was only a little pricey, and the food was excellent! The pizzas are individual-sized, and the very thin brick oven baked crust along with fresh toppings are what makes them so good. My wife had the Fettucine Alfredo, a very large portion served in a baking dish. You can have any of the pizza toppings added to your skillet lasagna or pasta dish for a small added price. The hand-crafted root beer was almost too sweet but went nicely with my pizza. The service was very good, too.... We'll definitely go back.

Not only the best pizza in Downtown Franklin, but the only one that doesn't taste like a "franchise" pizza.

Oh yum! Had some of their Greek pizza and some of the Margarita pizza! Just the best! To steal a line from the Terminator, “I’ll be back”!

Food was ok, did not like the bread, I had fettuccine Alfredo, wife had wild mushroom ravioli, which was good, waitress forgot our appetizer.

Accidentally stumbled upon this gem over the weekend. Entered only for takeout but mingled with staff while we waited. They were extremely friendly and courteous. Actually believe they might be vampires or something along that line. Their recommendations were spot on! Ate two slices driving home and stained my new shirt. The prosciutto raviolis were awesome even at room temperature! Can't wait for my next payday. See ya soon!

We love this place but were expecting to hear live jazz as advertised, the hostess was rude and snippy when we got there and asked about it. The food was awesome but we were disappointed when the jazz wasn't there... as advertised.

Meg went above and beyond to make us comfortable and happy! Can’t say too many good things about this place!

The best experience I have had in a pizza place! The owners and wait staff was so friendly and they took all my stress and formed it into a pizza. I've even thought about driving six hours just for that pizza again! Also, spinach dip!

What a great local gem! The pizza, garlic pinwheels, and pasta were all so good. The atmosphere was great too!! So glad we found a new favorite spot for pasta:)

Great little spot in downtown Franklin. The service was great despite March’s snow-mageddon 2018 2.0. I got the calzone, my wife got the cheese tortellini. It was a nice date night for the 2 of us without a crowd.

Way toooo long for everything. We were told a 10 minute wait and were seated 30 minutes later. The hostess said the outside seating was full, but when we looked outside at least 5 tables were empty. Told the kitchen couldn't handle any more tables. We ordered our food and waited for 1 hour to eat 2 kids pastas (not sufficient for a 5 and 6year old), 1 pizza and mushroom ravioli. The food tasted good, but pizza was missing a topping and we couldn't wait another hour for them to fix it. instead of offering to comp pizza they just took off cost for the one topping. Getting the bill paid took another 15 mins. They really need to get their act together and make sure this place can handle everything. A bigger bathroom and one with a changing table would be useful considering how many babies I saw.

A culturally important landmark in Franklin.. Franklin's restaurant scene isn't dying, but it's certainly not moving forward with any kind of speed. Ann's got a refresh, Aunt Judy's reigns supreme and Don and Donna's closed its doors. That leaves the Indigo Duck and Richard's as the best examples of high-class food choices in this town. Richard's delivers a far more engaging experience because everything is so open and family friendly. The night I went was a benefit of some sort and every table was filled. Although it is rather large on the inside, it is amazing how quick it can fill up for its limited hours.

Rather than wait 45 minutes on a table, we chose to order there and take it home. This left my family and I able to watch how our pizzas were made and all of the special care that went into making each one. The salads were excellent and the minestrone soup was by far the best of any Italian restaurant in the area that we've tried. As for the pizzas, each one was a masterful presentation. My Black&Bleu pizza was awesome with perfectly seasoned Cajun chicken and bleu cheese as well as a white sauce. It is one of the best pizzas I've had in this area (not hard to do with wood-fired pizzas). My wife's margheritta pizza was equally as great as well as the vegetarian pizza we got. The bottom was slightly crispy and the dough was pleasantly chewy with some charred ends. All of the pizzas were overall amazing.

If you're going through Franklin for whatever reason, Richard's and Aunt Judy's are the top two best places to eat in this town. Don't miss out.

LOVE!!!. This was my first time coming to here and I couldn't of felt more welcomed by the staff....I let our server know it was my first time being there and they were more than helpful with answering any questions or suggesting things on their menu which was handy since Ive never been here. Overall the food, staff, and atmosphere was GREAT!!! I cannot wait to come back

Mmmmmmmm!. I was in the area from Jersey for the Super Bowl and a friend of mine suggested I try this place. Boy was I not let down! I have never seen a place with an oven like this! A GIANT brick oven that had some fantastic smells coming out of it! I had a sausage pizza and my kid had a cheese one! It was great and unlike anything back East! The pasta dishes looked really good too! The service was wonderful too! I'm really glad I found out about this place!

The Local Pizza Place. Located in a converted garage not far from Franklin College, Richard's Pizza Kitchen offers delicious specialty pizzas that can be appreciated by the gourmet or college student. The pizzas are a thinner crust and baked in a open-air, brick, wood-fired oven, that causes hunger-inducing aromas to permeate throughout the room. With many toppings to choose from, a tantalizing variety of pizzas can be created. The bar seemed to offer a nice variety of beer, wine, and other alcoholic beverages, and I highly recommend their salads as a nice starter prior to indulging in pizza. Relatively new, Richard's Pizza Kitchen is proving quite popular, and I most certainly will make a return visit.

In todays paper.... Richard's Kitchen offers pizza and pasta worth loving
By Traci Cumbay / Star correspondent
Posted: May 14, 2010Comments (3) Recommend (4) E-mail Print
A A Walk in and there it is: the oven -- so big you could sprawl inside it or book an anniversary party in its cavern. It watches over the dining room like a matriarch, while working its high-temperature alchemy on dough and sauce.

Zoom Kitchen manager Gary Cox shows off (from his right) the house salad ($5), Greek pizza ($10), Margherita pizza ($9) and cheesy garlic pinwheels ($4) at Richard's Kitchen, 229 S. (A piano sits in one corner, and although nothing happened with it while we were there, I hold out hope that jolly tunes occasionally are banged out on it.)

My gang started with a bottle of wine (the short list keeps things simple with $22 bottles) and each of the menu's appetizers. Both make use of pizza dough: Rich artichoke spinach dip ($5) is served with wedges of flatbread, and in the cheesy garlic pinwheels ($4), the dough is wrapped around herbs and mozzarella. Grab a house ($5) or spinach ($4) salad before getting to the headliner.

Pizzas are sized for one -- if that one is ravenous -- but they're just shy of splittable, but who cares? If cold pizza for breakfast is something you grow out of, I don't want to live that long.

Margherita pizza ($9) looks like summer, topped amply with diced tomato and shredded basil. The Greek ($10) is equally jubilant and even more flavorful. Spinach, feta cheese, kalamata olives and red onions dress that one. The place doesn't skimp on toppings, which extend evenly almost to the crunchy, sweetish edge of crust. Tangy whole-milk mozzarella and just a smear of rich tomato sauce show up on each pie.

Richard's offers two pastas, and I strayed from the pizza to try one only because it's my job (and it turned out to be work, for sure). Wild mushroom ravioli ($10) was soupy with Alfredo sauce as flavorful as paper.

Dessert that night was tiramisu ($5), unequivocally designed for splitting but on the dry side.

I went home with a box of leftover pizza and got the next morning off to a smashing start with still-glorious pie.

Amazing!. The restaurant is located in an old garage of some sort- it's been wonderfully redone and decorated to give a unique modern Italian bistro feel.

The food is wonderful! The pizza is to-die-for, as it is cooked in an authentic dome brick oven. Prices are excellent as well, and service is good and friendly.

This place is an excellent joint for a good pizza in a relaxing environment- STRONGLY RECOMMEND!

Concerto. My husband and I ate dinner at the Pizza Kitchen for the first time last weekend. The pizza was wonderful...but the entertainment was not. Several children - all under 5 years old - were allowed by their parents and the management to play (pound on) the piano that sat next to our table. We probably had 10 minutes of our dining experience without the piano "concert". Not sure the pizza made up for the bad atmosphere.

The pizza was very good and the atmosphere was enjoyable.
