The Franklin Chop House is my go-to restaurant in Franklin. Although the name is similar to a chain (and a very good one at that), this is a Franklin Original. The staff are attentive and courteous (and they remember me at this point! I like that!). You can see the owner/manager keeping a close eye on the operations: actively managing his place. The food is excellent and reasonably priced, and the atmosphere relaxed and cordial. I like that they have a daily board with soups and cobblers and specials; awesome biscuits that they bring but I try not to eat (but do), and a very broad menu of items. Yesterday, I had the chicken and sausage gumbo which was not only delicious but deeply comforting. I had the Chicken Velvet the time before. My colleague requires gluten free, and the fact that they have a GF menu gives her more confidence in their commitment compared to those places where the server just promises to keep an eye on the chef. The GF Louisiana Shrimp with Crawfish is her favorite and one of mine too. I am also partial to the salmon, the chicken caesar salad, or the awesome bacon cheddar grill sandwich. Obviously, I pay attention and my expectations are high, but I am a fan of TFCH.
The food here is amazing! We traveled to Tennessee after getting off a cruise ship from the Bahamas, while Hurricane Matthew was coming towards us. Wife and I got the chicken fried chicken, and had blueberry cobbler for dessert. Service and hospitality there was amazing. Friendly staff and the food was top notch. When we come back to Franklin Tennessee we will definitely eat here again. Or if we ever move to beautiful Tennessee we will eat there every day. Thank y'all for showing us Texans an amazing time and extending smiles to us while visiting.
It's been too long since we've revisited this restaurant, and we shouldn't have waited that long to dine here again. The service was fantastic, the food all looked and tasted great, and the portion sizes were awesome for the prices. We are a huge fan of locally owned restaurants that cook food fresh, that are not chains, and Franklin Chop House definitely fits the bill!
We stopped in to eat around one in the afternoon. The restaurant is clean. Great staff from the hostess to our server, to the manager. A few people were waiting, but only two people in our party, we were seated right away. Server came out immediately and took our drink orders. The complimentary biscuits were soft and delicious.
I ordered the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer. Tasted more like Creamed spinach. Not a bad taste, but missing artichoke flavor And chose one of their seasonal cocktails. The almond joy. Coconut rum, cream de cacao, and chocolate (unsure of the last ingredient). Cool and tasty. I had the apple cheddar grille sandwich with sweet potato fries. My friend ate the blackened tilapia with regular fries. We both loved our entrees. Very tasty.
Stopped by in our way through the area. Server was friendly and helpful. We thought the calamari was a little on the salty side but they were well prepared with a light crust. Pork chops were tender and moist. Country fried chicken breast was like a schnitzel. Great crust! Broccoli was tender crisp, I appreciated that it wasn't covered with butter or oil. We didn't get the $1 off wine as advertised special but prices were reasonable.
Everything that I have eaten there has been grilled and seasoned perfectly. The waiting staff are courteous and conscientious. Their steaks and hamburgers are the best I ever had. Their pasta is very good as well. Their side dishes are numerous and also very good. A+

Food is always wonderful!
We are often asked ‘Where is a good place to go eat?’ by our out-of-town customers- and we always send them to The Franklin Chophouse because we know they will be completely happy with our recommendation! We love the drive up/pick up option for ourselves on our lunch break! Gourmet comfort food.:) The biscuits are the best!!
In town on vacation for the weekend and had lunch here. Good burger cooked to order, fresh toppings. Club sandwich was good quality deli and crispy toast. Friendly service. Some decor could use updating - fabric on booths - but overall good experience we would come again.
We don't live here and Family that does here suggested we eat here. Busy evening but didn't have more than a 20 minute wait to be seated. Husband had the pork chops, mashed sweet potatoes and I had the chicken n rice soup and salad, family members had the soup n salad and the steak. Special for the evening was the prime rib. Had we come in earlier in the evening might have tried it. Our guys were going to have the blackberry cobbler but they were already out of it for the evening. That was kind of a bummer but it happens.
