Thai Select Restaurant

ho what they say is right, you know, about the run down furniture. the bathroom is well kept if not a little stuffy. but in my opinion that speaks to the quality of the food. i have not had such good Thai food since i lived in Hawaii, where asian foods go neck-and-neck and only the best survive. The faces I made the first time I tried the pad see ew probably gave onlookers the impression that I was using recreational drugs (I was not, the food is just that good) and having the best trip of my life. Everybody and their tutu wants to sell pad see ew because it does well, but it's harder than it looks you know. It's so easy to overcook the broccoli and undercook the meat, or drown it in sauce. I say with pride and adoration that the beef in my dish was perfectly cooked and chewable (a commodity that, in my experience, nearby competitors are not able to provide). A couple tables are wobbly, and patrons will shove various objects (pamphlets, packets of Sweet N' Low) under a table leg to keep it sturdy. The ice is chewable, if you care about that sort of thing, and the servers are just lovely. As a germaphobe I'm cautious about the containers they serve the sticky rice in, since they look hard to wash, but there's always a plastic lining on the inside, so I'm not very worried at all. I don't think I properly emphasized enough how good the food is. Your toes will curl. Your face will move muscles you didn't know your face had. Your eyes will squeeze shut, and if you're lucky, you'll be able to taste how good it is even through the heat of it being freshly made. Excellent stuff. Every time I go, I pray thanking God for the bearded millennial cashier at Trader Joe's that recommended this place to me and my mom.

Update July 2023 I just don't understand why they are constantly closed on the food ordering apps. I just placed an $50 order through their website using uber eats and they canceled it with no explanation or anything, but my charges are pending. How is it any different then me driving up there to eat inside?! So frustrating bc it's literally the ONLY thai food anywhere near me. I'm sick and I just want my curry 😞 UPDATE: This place is such a gem! I am absolutely obsessed with their Thai red curry, and Pad See Ew. I could probably eat it once a week, its THAT good. Thank you for such great food and service!! Please stop turning off your doordash deliveries!!! This is my favorite place and every time I'm craving it, it's "closed" due to high demand.
