Black Dog Bar & Grill

Great place to celebrate a birthday with friends. We had a semi private room, and everyone had a variety of menu items from which to choose. Reasonably priced food. Amble portions of meat or fish entrees. Waiter brought us a "slice of cake" to share. Carmel sauce was yummy and generous portions for our group!

Great restaurant and bar here in Forest Grove. I just got chicken tenders off the starters menu and the portion was huge. They also let me upgrade to sweet potato fries, which were incredible. My mom ordered the plank roasted salmon and the Cassafrass cocktail, and we split a peach crisp for dessert. Food was excellent, service was quick and attentive. Probably more attentive than many other restaurants I’ve been to recently with all the staff shortages and supply shortages going on. The place was mostly empty when we walked in (around 5pm) and was pretty full by the time we finished our meal. Will definitely be back here the next time I’m in Forest Grove.

What an added gem to Forest Grove! Great menu. The food was really good! I'll definitely be back because I want to try the barbecue. I had to try a burger my first time. The mac n cheese is probably the best mac I've ever had! The dog sauce was almost a little too spicy, but it kind of subsides as you get through the burger. Those who don't like spicy, don't get it or ask for it on the side. The burger was delicious! The space is big and open and they have outdoor seating. The cooks are amazing too! Especially Naomi, she knows how to cook! I highly recommend checking this place out!

Ok great service, such a cool looking spot. Snapchat worthy. Went for the first time and wow I was impressed. Everything had so much flavor and great portions. We got ribs, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, pulled pork, and brisket. Also had a great ceaser salad with homemade croutons. Definitely will be returning. Only thing I didn't care for was the strawberry lemonade. But all else was good.

We ate at Black Dog for the first time on Mother's day - a Sunday. Arrived around 530pm and wasn't crowded. The time we ordered our food around 6pm, it was starting to fill up. They were out of fish n chips, but had most all other food and their signature BBQ and burnt ends were still available! We got the local slow roasted 1/2 chicken (very tasty!), and the Jammin' (pulled pork w/ slaw - delicious). The one server that was responsible for the whole place was doing a fine job, although I think he was swamped. Service was kind of slow, and music was quiet, would like better quality speakers for place that themes around rock n roll. Overall, we had a good experience and will be back!

A hidden gem. Great food, fun drinks, comfortable atmosphere, reasonable prices. Tucked away and almost hidden from street view, the Black Dog was a refreshing surprise and offered a delightful lunch, between the friendly, attentive staff, the amazing menu, and the classic rock soundtrack and motif, I can't wait for an excuse to go back with friends and family.
