Comfortable little spot on the main street in historic Ferndale. There aren't many choices for a little sit down respite when you come to stroll this quaint town so this one works. I like the couches. Live usic was being set up as we were leaving. That would have been fun. I'm guessing it's a nice place to have a casual dinner and drinks. The server was super sweet. We only had a plate of lettuce tacos (cased in lettuce instead of corn shell). They were fresh and appetizing looking. A little bland. But good enough. I will come back.

Very nice sit down Mexican in the village with limited street parking. Had lunch on a weekday in late September for three, no waiting. Friendly service, nice high ceiling space, latin music, cloth napkins, large plates and nice food, with a few defects.
Chips and salsa provided promptly and ordered drinks. Got a refill of chips as food arrived. Plates were not warm, tiny garnish of lettuce on combo plate, no sauce bar or bottled sauces, skimpy amount of jack cheese in quesadilla stuffed with lettuce, tomato sticky rice, and rellano had jack cheese. However, they provided hot sauce in small dish when asked. Room for improvement on presentation.
Food was mostly fine. Nice spice in mole, beans were nice with a little mexican cheese sprinkle, corn pico was good, horchata was very good, shrimp street tacos had good shrimp, good poblano chili in rellano. Salsa and chips very good. Very nice thick and flavorful hot corn tortillas. Wonderful horchata. Would eat here again.

Super tasty Mexican food. Really enjoyed my tamales and everyone else liked their food. Took some flan home for later, it was delicious. Nice place with cool art. Service was quick and sweet. We'll be back!

La Cantina es Tuyas … Ferndale, California .. Mole..fresh, clean just the right amount of spice, definitely not overwhelming, lite kick at the end, very nice… high quality meats fantastically flavorful and lean… I looked forward every bite… combo meat quesadilla upon request, not on the menu… thank you chef!…. Very accommodating…definitely satisfies one’s appetite and all levels of authenticity… a must for a great meal and a super vibe in Ferndale…Looking forward to future visits and going through the entire menu as hopefully I’ll have more than an afternoon .. the staff was very attentive with some personality… nice… thank you all and Sandy of course…. Joe Paz…. Casa Paz….

Exquisite food. They have outdoor seating so we were able to dine there with our dogs. Definitely worth going out of your way to check out.

Large portions, upscale Mexican with excellent woman cook.
Calamari appetizer was large pieces, quesadilla was huge as was chimichang and asada burrito. All 4 of us thoyght their food was very good.
They make their own horchata.
Would return and sit on cantina side.
Tuyas is two old stores.

We stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday. The food is excellent, way more than you may expect from a Mexican restaurant in a little town. And it is very reasonably priced. The service and ambience are also great. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area. Ferndale is by itself a great destination, but Tuya by itself is worth the drive.

The food was great. We had the fish(cod tacos). I had the corn tortillas made with fresh masa. My wife had the fish tacos as well with the flour tortillas. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was very comfortable. I only wish they had low tables for us with bad backs and knees. I also wish they had a liquor license to make real margaritas, but the drinks we had were delicious! I would go back and recommend this place for a yummy meal.

An enjoyable delicious lunch. We met the gracious owner “Glory” (says her parents were hippies), who stopped by our table to ask how we were enjoying our lunch.
